Axle is seeking a highly ambitious, adaptable, structured, and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in Rockville, MD.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform Edman (n-terminal) sequencing and related sample preparation.
• Perform mass spectrometry-based proteomic sample preparation techniques, including proteolytic digestions, peptide labeling, and protein purifications.
• Assist with sample preparation and derivatization of metabolites and lipids in samples from disease models.
• Assist with maintaining instrumentation in good working order.
• Aid in the mentoring and training of young investigators.
• Track and maintain chemical and consumable inventories.
• Maintain and organize sample storage.
• Ensure referenceable data storage and assist with data preprocessing and filtering.
• Communicate with collaborators punctually concerning project details, timelines, and reports.
  
  

Position Requirements

• Applicants should possess a Bachelors or, preferably, an advanced degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or other relevant fields with laboratory experience.
• Experience in proteomics, metabolomics or lipidomics disease and immunology associated samples is a plus.
• Experience in data management.
  
  

Personal Skills

• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment with co-workers
• Good record-keeping and organizational skills.
• NIH experience a plus.
