Reporting to the Director of Applications Engineering, the Lab Application Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring that ESAB Welding and Cutting Products remain a world leader in safety, innovation, efficiency, quality, and work environment throughout the organization including both production and non-production functions. The primary focus of the Application Engineer, Instructor is to assist customers with product recommendations and identify and assist in the development of applications for the customer’s needs related to welding consumables and welding automation.
Primary Duties
Support ESAB factories, i.e., Hanover, with the development and introduction of new products.
Actively pursue ideas in developing market needs/strategies and value-added activities.
Support Sales Team in selling, training, demonstrating, and validating ESAB Solutions
Work with internal and external machine shops for testing of PQR plates.
Development of PQR and WPS procedures for end users.
Writing technical reports to support procedure development
Managing the team of Hanover lab application engineers.
Working with the Hanover plant to support filler metal quality.
This role would support activities in our Hanover laboratory working on productivity solutions and travels to customers in North America.
Other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in applications or welding engineering role.
Demonstrated technical abilities, and experience with welding processes including but not limited to ESW and multi-wire SAW.
Demonstrated technical competency in SAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, OFC and SMAW welding for general fabrication.
Demonstrated experience with qualifying welding procedures to the AWS (D1.1 or D1.5) and/or ASME codes, including writing PQRs and WPSs
Demonstrated ability to perform all processes in all positions hands-on at the instructor level.
Working Conditions
Remains in a stationary position 50% of the time and involves additional physical demands such as ascending/descending stairs, walking stooping and standing.
Must wear Personal Protective Equipment ‘PPE’ when working/visiting manufacturing and plant locations.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery including but not limited to printer, tablets, cell phones.
Moves transports, puts, or removes equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.; pushes, pulls products weighing up to 200 lbs. using provided safety tools.
May be exposed to varying weather during travel.
Domestic travel required support engineering/sales activities 10%-20%
