Role: Formulation chemist Scientist II
Location: 21 Davis Drive, Research Triangle Park, NC, USA, 27709-2016
Duration: 12 Months
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with R&D Manager to develop new chemical formulations and biomaterials.
- Design and execute experiments aimed at controlled drug/protein release and improving device performance.
- Characterize formulations using analytical instruments and assess functional performance in vitro and in vivo.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues, manage workstreams, and meet program objectives.
- Work closely with project team members, contribute to intellectual property development, and ensure smooth project transitions.
- Extensive experience in chemicals/materials/polymers.
- Experience designing and characterizing formulations, with controlled drug delivery experience preferred.
- Hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation (UPLC, spectroscopic methods).
- Ability to design, execute, and document experiments effectively.
- Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.
- Proficiency in interpreting and presenting scientific results.
- Experience in drug delivery formulations and biomedical coatings.
- Basic synthetic chemistry knowledge (small molecules or polymer synthesis).
- Familiarity with materials characterization tools and interpreting resultant data.
- Experience with in-vivo testing of biomedical devices or prototypes.
- Willingness to occasionally work with biological specimens for lab-scale testing.
- Graduate degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or related field.
- Prior work experience in medical device R&D is advantageous.
