Description
Participate in evaluation, analysis, and recommendation of technical computing products with direction from senior staff.
Provide technical product support including response to user questions, installation, testing, problem diagnosis, tracking, resolution, and routine maintenance with moderate direction from senior staff.
Assist senior staff with the delivery of technical services including the preparation of cost justifications, application requirements, alternative solutions, and technical recommendations.
Participate in the preparation of technical procedures, documentation, manuals, and reports.
Maintain technical industry knowledge and continue to develop knowledge of client infrastructure.
Essential Job Functions & Tasks
Assists in the implementation of enhancements, updates, upgrades and patches to ensure equipment is preventively maintained, running properly and protected from computer viruses and other security threats.
Assists in keeping users informed of changes on a timely basis.
Assists in testing prior to going live into production.
Monitors and reports on processes, uptime, performance, utilization and capacity of technologies. Alerts senior staff of less than desirable results.
Executes and monitors equipment backups to ensure data and applications are safeguarded and can be restored to establish normal operation after an incident or disaster.
Troubleshoots simple support problems and provides or obtains their timely resolution. Escalates complex problems to more senior IT Infrastructure Engineers to facilitate their resolution.
Assists in writing and maintaining technical documentation, policies and procedures related to networking and infrastructure and updates, as necessary.
Minimum Requirements
Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering related field or Associate's degree with 2 years system administration related experience or High School Diploma/GED with 4 years system administration related experience.
Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years' System Administration related experience (in addition to any experience identified above)
Additional Requirements
Technical certification in administration technology field preferred, but not mandatory
Detailed knowledge and experienced is desired in the following areas:
Windows Operating Systems
HP Server and Workstation Hardware
TCP/IP Networking
Strong skills in communication, issue resolution, organization, and facilitation are essential.
A willingness to provide after-hours support for systems as needed; participate in rotating on-call schedule - typically on-call for 1 week every 6 weeks.
