Purpose

Please note: This position in the office Monday-Thursday and Friday is remote.

The Instructional Designer is part of Floor and Decor’s Learning and Development Team. The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing and developing effective training programs for retail stores, distribution centers, and customer support center employees. A key requirement for this position is demonstrated experience with designing, developing and deploying training curriculum. In addition to designing training programs, a working knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS) is required, Axonify preferred.

The Instructional Designer will conduct research and analysis to select the most appropriate learning strategies, methodologies, and technologies to maximize the learning experience. The incumbent applies proven instructional design techniques to develop detailed design plans for each learning initiative and has responsibility for the overall design integrity of each learning solution.


Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for building online and instructor-led course content and ensuring learning effectiveness for all programs.
  • Leadership Development: Assist in the creation and continuous enhancement of leadership development modules, including interactive workshops and high-impact training sessions designed to cultivate essential management and leadership skills.
  • Performance Analysis: Perform thorough job and task analyses to pinpoint leadership skill gaps and design training programs that effectively bridge these gaps.
  • Partner with key business stakeholders, collaboratively addressing strategic workforce development needs and creating optimal learning solutions for our employees
  • Design and develop on-line and instructor lead training using innovative multimedia tools and resources
  • Conduct detailed job and task analysis, identifying skill gaps based on learning objectives that are aligned with business objectives
  • Create job aids, manual, simulations, case studies, and role play scenarios to achieve desired learning objectives
  • Publish learning content to LMS and maintain curriculums for role based positions.
  • Conduct evaluation of learning solutions effectiveness and publish measured results to ensure training programs meet performance objectives.
  • Lead training initiatives ensuring projects remain on time and within budget.


Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Training and Development, or related field.
  • Minimum 4-6 years' experience in a training function providing instructional design services, building effective training programs for a decentralized workforce.
  • Experience with multimedia and e-learning tools such as Adobe Suite including InDesign, Captivate, Articulate, Storyline/360, and Vyond.
  • Working knowledge and application of Learning Management Systems (Workday, Cornerstore, Axonify etc.).


Working Conditions (travel, environment)

  • Travel – approximately 20% of the job will require travel to stores and regional training events.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderately quiet.


Physical/Sensory Requirements

Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
