Human Resources provides University-wide leadership for strategic HR initiatives and workforce solutions to meet the needs of the University now and in the future. As the primary hub for HR programs and initiatives, we engage constituents University-wide as a strong partner, service provider and resource related to all aspects of workforce management and development at all levels of the University community.


To support our mission to meet the current and future needs of the University, the Human Resources team is seeking its next HR Business Partner. The HR Business Partner formulates partnerships with stakeholders from across the enterprise to deliver value-added services to employees that reflect the objectives of the University and Medical Center. The HR Business Partner functions as an expert consultant on Human Resources issues and acts as an employee champion and change agent.


Responsibilities span all aspects of strategic Human Resources to include: workforce and succession planning; performance management; employee relations and investigations; employee development and engagement.


Key deliverables are focused on:


Collaboration: Enhancing the effective delivery of HR services to business units. This requires collaborating with University Human Resources divisions such as Compensation, Benefits, Organizational Development and Labor Relations to develop solutions to business challenges.


Relationship Building: Within assigned business units, providing consultation and decision support on complex leadership and HR issues. The HR Business Partner builds effective and collaborative working relationships with management and employees to provide advice and counsel on personnel and organizational matters.


Equity & Inclusion: Driving efforts to create and sustain a diverse and inclusive people culture.


Critical Thinking: Providing expert counsel to management in order to reduce legal risks and ensure regulatory compliance. Partners with Employee Relations and legal counsel as needed.


Conflict Resolution: Working closely with leaders of assigned business units to improve or build morale among staff, increase engagement and employee retention. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations while working to resolve complex personnel issues.



The ideal candidate for an HR Business Partner role will bring over 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably within a large, matrixed organization. The ability to think critically, collaborate and communicate effectively, and make important decisions is essential.


The incoming HR business partner must be comfortable coaching leadership, offering differing points of view, and navigating multiple, often competing, priorities.
