ROLE OVERVIEW

Thiess is seeking an HSE Coordinator to support our mining team on our Project site near Denver, Colorado. The HSE Coordinator – System Reporting/Analytics will be a key role, working with the HSE Advisor team, People + Capability Superintendent, Project Manager, Regional HSE Director, and site leadership. Duties will include ensuring assistance of services associated with site HSE matters. They will ensure health and safety are conducted at a high level of integrity and professionalism while maintaining the HSE database in accordance with the contract scope of works, contract requirements, and changing work environment.

Works collaboratively with and in support of HSE team members and other NA REGION leads in an autonomous capacity. Provides early warning to the regional HSE Team regarding process deficiencies or schedule slippage. Skilled in the use of computer programs and development of databases, spreadsheets, presentations and HSE literature. Preferably has working familiarity with Thiess’s environmental, safety and health processes and procedures.

PAY RANGE

  • $60,000 - $70,000 USD DOE


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reports to the People + Capability Superintendent and receives support and direction from the Region HSE Director, Site HSE Advisors, and Project Manager.
  • Tracks deliverables, action items, and corrective actions across the project in Synergy (software)
  • Coordinates delivery of daily safety shares, tracks sign-ins, and ensures proper record storage
  • Develops and consolidates HSE weekly and monthly project report data for distribution
  • Manages documentation of environmental initiatives. Assists with execution of initiatives as directed by HSE team and HSE Director
  • Maintains contact with project HSE personnel to keep them informed of HSE issues and to ensure adequate technical support
  • Maintains Health registers with up-to-date and accurate data. Ensures relevant regional and global Health teams are across site health management details. Develops and maintains JMPs
  • Assists with investigations as directed, including gathering evidence, obtaining statements, and compiling data
  • Responds to injuries on-site immediately in accordance with post injury procedures. Reports injury to applicable leadership, HSE team, P+C Superintendent, and Project Manager immediately
  • Assists with gathering monthly reporting data and ensuring its submissions as directed by HSE team
  • Ensures safety campaigns are included in return to work messaging, signage. Assists HSE team in development of material as needed Ensures leadership has all safety share content for pre-starts. Maintains records of sign-ins. Assists HSE team in development of material as needed
  • Develops CCV schedule and ensures regular completion. Enters audit actions as directed by HSE team. Manages open actions site-wide and ensures routine follow-up with accountable persons
  • Schedules, coordinates + executes toolbox talks. Assists HSE team in development of material as needed
  • Assigns ReaDI-Watches to new employees. Tracks data and provides proposals to HSE team and leadership as applicable for increased utilization of the Fatigue Management program
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of HSE, or equivalent. In lieu of formal degree, relevant experience working in a similar role and responsibilities; Safety/health-related certifications from national/international accrediting organizations/associations may be accepted

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience working in a similar role extremely advantageous
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in the proficient use of Microsoft Office applications i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Authorization to work lawfully in the USA without sponsorship from Thiess is required
  • Must be fluent in the English language


DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  • Incident investigation training or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of Thiess’s organization structure, functions, and administrative procedures
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Has a professional outlook and had the ability to produce work of a high-quality standard
  • Applies a very high level of attention to detail to all outputs
  • Familiar with safety/health assessments/inspections during pre-stripping and mine development.
  • Familiar with developing and implementing safety/health awareness training programs.
  • Familiar with MSHA, OSHA, EPA, NFPA, DOT regulations
  • Familiar with ISOs 9001, 14001, 45001
  • Familiar with NIOSH
  • Understanding of mining planning and execution

  • Work schedule: 5 on / 2 off, 8 hour shifts (call-outs on weekends or nights may be required)
