Reporting to the Assistant Director of HIM for Operations, the Coder II plays a crucial role in abstracting and coding outpatient visits (including ED, Ambulatory Surgery, and clinic visits) using ICD-9 CM and CPT codes at a leading medical center. Utilizing the 3M encoder and SMS/Invision systems, this role ensures accurate coding and data entry. Additional responsibilities include compiling daily, weekly, and monthly production reports, participating in departmental PI projects, and performing related duties to support operational needs.
Qualifications
Required:
Proficiency in assigning codes effectively and accurately
Minimum One Year Of Acute Hospital Coding Experience
Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and medical terminology
Familiarity with ICD-9 CM, ICD-10, and CPT coding systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Credentials such as CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or CPC-H
Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
Capacity to maintain an appropriate work pace and establish effective relationships across the Health System
Preferred
