What You Bring To The Table

Beck is looking for a qualified Healthcare focused General Superintendent to join an extraordinary project team. You will be involved in many facets of construction with the ability to evolve and enhance our existing operations. As the General Superintendent, you are responsible for overall organization of work, field staff management, OSHA and Beck Safety Manual implementation, the work methods utilized, scheduling, cost control, conformity with drawings and specification, and quality/workmanship. You will lead and motivate your project teams to cohesively and successfully accomplish the best economical, quality, safe, and efficient execution of the work on or ahead of schedule with the opportunity to be designated the lead Superintendent on "mega" projects and lead and support the teams of multiple projects.

The job involves the following essential functions:

  • Actively market and develop Beck's Integrated goal and future business opportunities, supporting the company's Integrated goal and seeking future business opportunities.
  • Assist in leading project pursuit presentations, contributing to the success of integrated design-build delivery.
  • Understand and support integrated design-build delivery, actively participating in recruiting, hiring, and training/mentoring field supervision personnel.
  • Manage and negotiate client, subcontractor, and other external relationships, while also managing the strengths and weaknesses of project team members to maximize efficiency.
  • Lead, promote, and teach Lean Construction Practices/Principles across regions, serving as a Regional Lean Champion.
  • Provide leadership in staff, monthly schedule, and Owner meetings, fostering and maintaining effective working relationships with all team members.
  • Coordinate practical field training and assess/evaluate direct reports for career growth feedback.
  • Lead the development and delivery of Beck Training, promoting innovation for process improvements.
  • Manage the close-out process, including punch list completion, de-mobilize, and 1-year warranty walk.
  • Foster Team Health, actively participating in industry involvement on a board, committee, or college.
  • Assist with preconstruction collaboration for pursuits and scope of work reviews, showcasing the ability to present and win project pursuits.

Who We Think Will Be a Great Fit

A person with a passion to lead, develop, and mentor their teams while also having the ability to train and coach other Superintendents, communicate effectively and collaboratively with all team members, and supervise all aspects of building construction. You also possess uncompromising authenticity and integrity, a passion to get things done, and confidence to present and win project pursuits. An ideal candidate will have an interest in the integrated project delivery method and in innovation of process improvement and technology.

You also meet the following requirements:

  • 20+ years of field coordination and relevant commercial construction project experience
  • Ability to lead planning, logistics and schedule development for large commercial and multi-phase projects from conceptual level documents and full design documents.
  • College graduate or exceptional relevant experience and continuing education
  • Experience using Synchro, Procore, Bluebeam, Ignite, CMiC, and Revit or comparable construction technologies is a plus

Physical Demands:

Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity equipment; frequently ascends/descends ladders and stairs; constantly works in various outdoor weather conditions; frequently moves equipment up to 50Ibs to various locations on site; constantly communicates with subcontractors, vendors, and other members of project team; ability to constantly move around job site on uneven surfaces; Spends much of the day standing. Ability to adhere to consistent and timely attendance.
