Ronald Feldman Gallery has been at the frontier of contemporary art since 1971. The gallery is located in lower Manhattan in New York City and exhibits painting, drawing, sculpture, performance, photography, and new media.


The gallery is open Monday to Friday 10:00am to 6:00pm with exhibition public viewing hours from 1:00pm to 5:00pm Tuesday through Thursday.


Position Description

As the full-time, in-person Gallery Administrator & Social Media Coordinator, you will play a vital role in administering day-to-day operations, facilitating communications initiatives, and supporting a variety of special projects crucial to the gallery's operations. This position requires a dynamic individual with strong administrative skills, a hospitality-oriented approach, social media execution experience, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:

Day-to-Day Operations and Hospitality:

  • Serve as the initial point of contact for visitors, deliveries, vendors, and artists, maintaining a professional and welcoming presence.
  • Serve as front-desk presence during weekly public visiting hours.
  • Handle and channel incoming inquiries, calls, emails, and mail, triaging and resolving issues promptly.
  • Oversee operations administration functions, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Maintain gallery overall schedule.
  • Support visitors and supervise vendors on gallery premises as needed.

Sales Research and Support:

  • Research and track marketplace and auction sales and activity.
  • Support and execute ArtNet and Artsy presence.
  • Provide administrative support to Sales team.
  • Create and format checklists and press releases for exhibitions.

Communications and Social Media:

  • Support development and execution of social media strategies across gallery website, social media platforms, and MailChimp.
  • Activate social media calendar.
  • Utilize photoshop and/or similar programs to correct and edit artwork photos and design other images
  • Support photo archivist and photographer.
  • Ensure clear and timely communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Other Gallery Support:

  • Manage office, kitchen, and other general supplies for the gallery.
  • Support inventory, registrarial, photography, archival and other projects.
  • Support technology vendor management, hardware upgrades and team usage.
  • Liaise with the team and provide administrative support at all levels.


Qualifications:

  • Mid-level (3-5+ years) experience in gallery administration or arts management, with a strong understanding of gallery operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Arts Administration, Business Management, or related field preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a hospitality-oriented mindset.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, and ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially MSWord and MS Excel.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, or similar software.
  • Experience with arts management software, especially Art Systems.
  • Experience with managing Artsy and Artnet platforms.
  • Ability to remain flexible, solve problems, and prioritize needs in a variety of situations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and take initiative to drive projects forward.
  • Ability to conduct research, determine project requirements, and execute plans with precision.
