Department Overview

Our Servicing experts service all Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and FHA Finance loans originated by Walker & Dunlop as well as certain life insurance company, bank, and CMBS loans.  Our Servicing experts are the borrower’s primary point of contact and ensure that the requirements of the investors are met from loan closing through payoff.  The Department consists of six main functional areas: Loan Administration, Asset Management, Insurance Compliance, Investor Reporting, Treasury, and Compliance. W&D’s Servicing portfolio is the 8th largest in the U.S., and W&D is one of Fitch’s highest-rated Servicers, with a rating of CPS1-.

The Impact You Will Have

This is an entry level position and an excellent opportunity for advancement within the Asset Management Department. The primary role of the incumbent will be to support the Senior Vice Presidents of the GSE Asset Management team within Servicing.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Use Power BI and Excel to edit and create reports.
  • Review reports regularly and synthesize data for managers.
  • Work with Data Warehouse team on the creation of additional data sets and reports for GSE AM.
  • Research macroeconomic data and property performance data for individual markets.
  • Review Data to determine most effective ways to present meaningful trends.
  • Collect annual and quarterly financial reports from Borrowers. Save received documents appropriate Box folders. Interact with Borrowers regarding questions and follow-up with non-responsive Borrowers.
  • Conduct annual and quarterly financial analysis for multifamily and commercial loans in the portfolio (e.g., collect financial data, analyze financial statements, summarize, and present findings, along with proposed adjustments/solutions)
  • Review Borrower requests for Replacement Reserves disbursement for compliance with loan documents. Utilize accounting system to confirm wiring instructions and to enact disbursements from escrow.
  • Coordinate, record and review annual property inspections, including both setting up and follow up with property representatives/borrowers and inspectors (in-house and third-party vendors)
  • Reach out to Borrowers and property representatives to update loan and property contacts as needed.
  • Update portfolio database as needed. Including reviewing narratives for Operations & Maintenance Plans and property descriptions.
  • As necessary, assist Asset Managers with quarterly Watch List updates regarding, occupancy, concession levels, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Attendance is generally 8:30 am – 5:30 pm EST Monday through Friday with the ability to work up to 2 of those days remotely.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Finance
  • Previous experience in the real estate industry or in an analytical role is preferred

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Computer skills including MS Outlook, MS Excel, and experience with database software, particularly Power BI. Machine Learning experience would be a plus.
  • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to evaluate data quickly and present information in a coherent manner.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to show ownership of your work, take on challenges and acknowledge growth opportunities, and demonstrate patience when learning new processes
