Financial Analyst/Accountant
Chandler Industries, a precision machining and sheet metal fabricating company with divisions in Minnesota and Mexico is looking for a Financial Analyst/Accountant to join our team! This position is based out of our brand-new, state-of-the-art facility in Blaine, MN!
The Financial Analyst/Accountant is a high-visibility role supporting the scorekeeping and analysis of Chandler Industries' multiple fast-growing divisions. The position touches the full spectrum of finance and accounting, with exposure to month-end close, forecasting, budgeting, analysis, and preparation of financial, operational, and strategic reporting. This position reports directly to the VP of Finance.
Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Assist in the preparation, review, and analysis of financial forecasts and operating budgets.
Assist with month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
Provide in-depth analysis of financial performance and root cause variances to forecasts/budgets.
Perform detailed manufacturing and SG&A expenditure analysis to identify trends and areas needing cost control focus. Provide value-add variance analysis to highlight issues or opportunities and promote understanding of necessary changes.
Analyze and provide monthly margin analysis by part, customer, and product line.
Work with Operations to identify, mitigate, and reduce operational costs and inventory.
Collaborate within the Finance/Accounting department to propose and implement process improvement ideas for more accurate and faster reporting.
Assist with accounts payable on an as-needed basis.
Assist in preparing monthly operations reporting packages as well as annual governmental reporting.
Maintain the capital expenditure process, including ROI templates and approvals.
Undertake other projects as assigned by the Accounting Manager and VP of Finance.
Required Skills and Experience (Minimum Requirements):
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a similar field.
Minimum 1 year of experience in an analytical position.
High level of intellectual curiosity, analytical ability, and desire to learn.
Highly adaptable; strong ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to multi-task; strong project management skills.
Ability to establish and contribute to a high degree of teamwork and collaboration with diverse groups.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.
Strong understanding of financial accounting, P&L, and the balance sheet.
Strong knowledge of ERP systems, especially operations and cost modules; ability to navigate through various types of computer software.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills; strong knowledge of other Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to communicate with varied levels of employees.
Exceptional attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Additional Skills and Experience (Preferred or Helpful):
Manufacturing experience.
MBA, CPA, or CMA credentials are helpful.
