Reporting to the Assistant Director of Financial Aid Processing, the Financial Aid Processing Assistant is responsible for processing student financial aid files and determining student eligibility for federal financial aid funds through the verification process. They will communicate with students to provide information about financial aid programs, as well as assist students to complete necessary applications and forms. They will work closely with colleagues in Central Financial Aid Processing to ensure Federal financial aid and verification procedures are performed in an efficient and effective manner.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Review, evaluate, and assess student financial aid application data to determine eligibility by verifying IRS tax forms, verification documents and ensuring compliance with the US Department of Education
  • Responsible for comprehensive knowledge of Federal financial aid program regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Perform complex financial aid processes, including Verification.
  • Address Inquires from students and internal staff on verification process.
  • Complete outreach to students with incomplete or inaccurate verification documents, a ssisting students and families through the FAFSA correction and verification process.
  • Review all necessary data to perform federal verification, and perform such verification, ensuring all verification are accurate and complete.
  • Transmit verified FAFSA data to the US Department of Education to receive correct and actionable Federal ISIRs using CPS and/or PeopleSoft .
  • Review and adjust various award accounts for compliance based on updated EFC.
  • Meet assigned productivity goals
  • Follow all institutional policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned or directed by the Assistant Director of Financial Aid Processing.

Qualifications: High School diploma or GED required, bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Services, Sociology, or closely related field preferred; Minimum of one year demonstrated customer service experience. Experience in a higher educational, accounting, business administration environment preferred. Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures. Working knowledge of MS Windows and Office Suites. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to work a flexible schedule to include 10-17.5 hours a week. This is a part time, non –benefited position.

Pay range: Salary commensurate with education and experience.
