Position Summary

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The position will be responsible for all aspects of wellness operations at all YMCA of Greater Omaha locations. The Executive Director of Health & Wellness will lead our wellness teams to ensure we provide safe and effective programs and services to improve the health of our community.

Essential Functions

  • Provides association-wide strategies and direct leadership to ensure high quality programming and growth for the YMCA of Greater Omaha.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, manages, and supervises assigned branch staff and volunteers while providing leadership development and feedback.
  • Expands Wellness & Healthcare Initiatives and provides solutions to improve community health while fostering current community relationships and developing new.
  • Directs and leads association-wide Health & Wellness Quality Team while developing marketing and communication plans to ensure consistent implementation across all branches.
  • Oversees planning, development and delivery of all Health and Wellness programs including fitness center, group exercise, individual and small group personal training, and chronic disease and specialty programs.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors the branch operating budget while providing budgetary support for all Health & Wellness department budgets to ensure that the financial health of the YMCA is supported by appropriate decision-making.
  • Compiles program details and necessary statistical data for all wellness programming by monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of participation, pricing, and overall sustainability.
  • Stays up to date on the latest offerings, trends and resources in the Health and Wellness industry to ensure our Y is a preferred provider for community health and well-being.
  • Supports programming team in the development and execution of special events and activities, including annual support campaign activities.
  • Manages wellness training including new member engagement programs, team on-boarding, YMCA initiatives and on-going development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent.
  • Three or more years leadership experience, preferably in a YMCA.
  • Proven track record of sales, membership and/or wellness-related growth and development, preferably in a non-profit organization.
  • Nationally accredited Personal Training and/or Group Exercise certification.
  • Demonstrated success directing customer-focused programs through supervision of staff and volunteers; developing and managing budgets, programs, marketing and public relations campaigns and fundraising a plus.
  • Must have superior oral and written communication skills and the ability to respond to a wide variety of constituencies, including associates, volunteers, members, program participants, vendors, community leaders, etc.
  • Demonstrated history of fostering collaborations with community organizations/partners.
  • Knowledge of third-party payment systems and/or chronic disease management services a plus.
  • Nationally recognized fitness or wellness certification preferred.
  • Complete within 30 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention Training; BLS CPR; First Aid
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
  • Hours may include evening and weekend work.
  • Reliable transportation and travel between local branches on a regular basis required.
