PNP Staffing Group is excited to have been retained by Gasol Foundation to lead their search for an Executive Director.


SALARY: $125,000 - 140,000/year

LOCATION: Los Angeles

HOURS: Hybrid, 3 days in-office


ABOUT GASOL FOUNDATION

Founded by NBA All-Star and champion brothers Pau and Marc Gasol, Gasol Foundation works through evidence-based programming, research and awareness to promote children’s wellness, with a focus on reducing childhood obesity. Every effort of the Gasol Foundation incorporates physical activity, healthy eating, sleep, and emotional well-being to improve the health of our children and their overall development. Through the key involvement of family and educators, Gasol Foundation programs and initiatives in California (with a sibling nonprofit in Spain) promote children‘s knowledge and healthy habits for their development.


POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to:

Functional reporting: Global Executive Director

Hierarchical reporting: President and the Board of Directors.


We are looking for a leader to ensure development, sustainability and growth of the Gasol Foundation in the United States based on the learnings of Gasol Foundation Europe. You have a versatile skill set to lead our team and drive the development of the organization’s three main action lines: programming with children and families, scientific research and awareness in fulfillment of the mission based on the Gasol Foundation model.


The team is based at our office in downtown Los Angeles, with programming at multiple locations in Los Angeles and Orange Counties and upcoming expansion to other areas of Southern California.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to ensure sustainability aligned with the organization mission, objectives and guidelines.
  • Identify and pursue fundraising opportunities by establishing strategies to approach and engage potentialfunders (i.e. companies, grant-making foundations, major donors), preparing and submitting customized proposals, and administrating fundraising records and documentation.
  • Lead and/or supervise the implementation and monitoring of fundraising campaigns and events, ensuring that established objectives are met.
  • Maintain relationships and cultivation of current and potential public and private partners, donors and other collaborators, fostering a culture of philanthropy.


Strategy & Management

  • Define the goals and strategy of the organization, including the development and implementation of the annual working plans, based on the Gasol Foundation model.
  • Develop new partners and supporters, and ensure sustainability.
  • Provide oversight and coordination to the team, while contributing to their professional growth as well as fostering cohesion among its members.
  • Ensure that the activities in the United States are aligned to the StrategicPlan.
  • Represent the Gasol Foundation in the community, advocating its visionand programs at events and conferences to increase awarenessand support.
  • Meet with city, state and local officials to advocate for Gasol Foundation’s evidence-based approach as a public health priority.
  • Help to raise the foundation’s visibility through savvy use of social media and other communications strategies.


Programs and Research

  • Oversee the U.S. Programand Research Directorand ensure the successful execution of programs and research initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the U.S. Programs and Research Director to identify and establish partnerships that contribute to the attainment of program and research objectives.


Financial Management & Operations

In coordination with the Global Chief of Operations:

  • Design the annual budget for Board approval and manage resources according to current laws and regulations.
  • Manage the overall coordination of operations, including the internal administrative system that responds to field and external needs with accuracy and speed.
  • Manage HR, including overseeing recruitment, supervision and coordination of staff as needed, according to authorized personnel policies and procedures that fully conform to current laws and regulations.


Board of Directors and Advisory Board

  • Present strategic plan and annualworking plans, alongwith budget, to the Board for approval.
  • Maintain accountability to the Board for achievingthe established goals and executing annual working plans.
  • Promote activeinvolvement of Boardmembers in Committees and Task Forces to ensure successful participation.
  • Enable the Board to effectively carry out its governance responsibilities.


REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimumof 5 to 7 years' experience in a leadership role within a nonprofit agency.
  • Track record of successful major, corporate, and foundation fundraising.
  • Ability to generate, maintain and nurture high-level relationships.
  • Flexibility to work across time zones as part of a global team.
  • Experience leading a strategic planning process.
  • Passion and knowledge about health and wellness, childhood obesity, healthy nutrition, and physical activity.
  • Knowledge of the landscape of youth nonprofits and potential donors in Los Angeles.
  • Speak, understand, and write Spanish.
