Reports to: Business Analytics & Estimating Manager
GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Estimator is responsible for estimating projects in accordance with applicable plans and specifications while following company policies, procedures, and sound building practices. The Estimator ensures delivery of crucial information to customers, salesmen, contractors, engineers and architects regarding accurate estimates for roofing and/or cladding metal needs.
CORE & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Generate estimates from blueprint drawings, specifications, field notes, field drawings, and actual field inspections.
Obtain all necessary information from customers such as, field inspections, measurements, photographs, and sketches required to provide accurate customer pricing.
Review and discuss production requirements to meet estimated costs with the Plant Manager.
Improve the estimating process by collecting and analyzing data, creating tools, and updating systems or practices.
Perform quantitative takeoffs on construction projects.
Maintain product and company reputation by complying with company policies.
Be involved in bid reviews with supervisors and project team.
Solicit subcontractor and vendor pricing for work done outside of our self-perform group.
Maintain positive relationships with vendors for competitive material and equipment pricing.
Provide answers to questions and inquiries from the sales force, contractors and architects concerning the products, approvals, competitive information and roofing techniques.
Support Customer Service personnel and salesmen upon request.
Assist the sales force in solving problems that they encounter.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science or Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or related field is preferred.
Minimum of two years of experience in Estimating or related fields.
Ability to understand job drawings and specifications.
Display a working knowledge of the bidding process.
Knowledge of metal roofing and engineered wall systems.
Possession of knowledge in different estimating techniques and software.
Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving; ability to determine solutions for customers.
