LaBella is currently planning to hire an Environmental Scientist / Geologist / Engineer in our growing, multi-disciplinary, Daphne, AL office. LaBella has over 1,900 employees in over 35 offices throughout 13 states and 3 countries. Our growing Daphne office provides focused, technical environmental consulting services with the resources of a larger-sized firm. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with an entrepreneurial spirit to join a dynamic team working on exciting, multi-phase, technically engaging, and impactful projects. The successful candidate will perform field work including groundwater, soil, and surface water sampling, submit samples to a laboratory for analysis, manage and evaluate field and lab data, supervise contractors and drillers, and support the preparation of reports. This individual will assist with Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, support environmental investigations and remediation at project sites throughout Alabama, and support project managers on various projects. The ideal candidate will enjoy a mix of office and field time.
Duties
Performing field work primarily throughout Alabama
Soil and groundwater sampling
Perform and / or supervise field activities and drilling on construction projects
Perform Phase I inspections
Collect, record, and organize field data in a concise manner
Data presentation, map creation, and report preparation
Prepare deliverables on time and within budget
Maintain open communication with project team members
Represent the company in a professional manner and in line with firm's core values
Conduct work to professional standards and following firm's QA/QC policy
Requirements
B.S. degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or Engineering preferred
2-5 years of experience in a related local environmental position
40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification preferred but not required
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to work in a fast-paced environmental consulting team environment
Ability to work within a multi-disciplined group of professionals
Strong communication skills (active listening, written, and verbal)
Organized with strong attention to detail
Highly motivated, with excellent client service skills and a positive attitude
Strong problem-solving skills
Valid AL driver's license, lean driving record, and reliable transportation
Skills
Computer skills including Microsoft office (word processing, database, spreadsheet) and GIS (ArcMap) preferred, and / or ability to learn programs with proper comprehensive training
Field equipment use such as a photo-ionization detector (PID), pumps, and meters preferred, and / or ability to learn the operation of the equipment with proper comprehensive training
