Job Purpose

The American Counseling Association is seeking an energetic and detailed-oriented intern who is passionate about mental health counseling and eager to gain experience working for a non-profit organization. The intern will aid the Department of Education and Content with managing special projects and programs related to career and professional practice of counseling. The intern will be paid $20/hr. and must be willing to commit to 20 hours per week. Reports to assigned supervisor, Counseling Specialist, Career Resources.

The intern will work independently and with the team to fulfill departmental initiatives and goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee operation of assigned special projects.
  • Assist with timeline development, ensure production is on schedule, and manage project from start to finish.
  • Will provide support with the preparation and execution of upcoming virtual conferences and events.
  • Manage the restructuring and revitalization of ACA counselor practice briefs.
  • Assist in exploration and implementation of mentoring platforms, training, and program success.
  • Aid in the restructuring and expansion of existing content and resources.
  • Research, curate, and create new timely and relevant resources based upon data and analytics.
  • Organizes and manages various parts of projects to ensure their success.
  • Monitors daily tasks and communication, providing reports and updates for the program manager.
  • Provides data collection and strategic reports on assigned projects.
  • Provides services that expedite the meeting of requirements and program outcomes.
  • Maintains documentation in a timely, thorough, and accurate manner.
  • Perform other appropriate tasks related to your professional role as needed.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a College program, Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, or related field, preferred.
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to successfully work within a diverse cultural setting.
  • Prompt and consistent attendance during scheduled working hours
  • Demonstrates teamwork and open communication.
  • Ability to work in an unstructured and unpredictable setting with flexibility to adapt to change.
  • Ability to multitask and produce high-quality work by a deadline.
  • Use research and data analysis to make strategic decisions regarding content production.

Location & Flexibility: Hybrid - must reside within the Washington DC Metro Area.
