The Japan Society Education & Family Programs Department seeks a part-time intern with a background in arts and education, and an interest in East Asian Studies. The ideal candidate will want to develop skills related to student, family, school and teen programs, as well as child development.
Learning Opportunities
Work closely with Education Department staff to learn about program management and administration within a nonprofit organization
Assist and shadow teaching artists during school programs to learn applicable teaching strategies and experience in arts-related learning
Learn about child development and pedagogy in practice and gain experience working with early childhood, family and teen audiences
Learn about other departments at Japan Society through collaborative programs
Gain knowledge about Japanese arts, history and culture
Gain understanding of structure and functions within the nonprofit sector
Responsibilities
The intern will assist with various tasks including, but not limited to:
Supporting program development
Conducting and compiling research on a variety of topics
Assist preparing materials related to all education programs for families, students, school groups, and teachers
Supporting families and teens during after-school and weekend programs
Drafting and distributing promotional materials for department related events
Day-to-day administrative/office support
Drafting posts for social media platforms
