Editorial Assistant

Position: Editorial Assistant, Baker Academic & Brazos PressReports to: Managing EditorDepartment: Baker Academic & Brazos Press EditorialPosition Type: Regular Full Time, NonexemptLocation: Baker Publishing Group, Ada, MIAbout This Position:Baker Publishing Group is currently accepting applications for the position of Editorial Assistant, Baker Academic & Brazos Press. The editorial assistant will work closely with project editors, providing assistance in all aspects of the editorial process.Position Objective:To provide support to the Baker Academic and Brazos Press editorial department.Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage reprint corrections in cooperation with the design and production departments, making sure to keep projects on schedule.
  • Edit and coordinate materials from the visual communications and marketing departments, including catalogs, ads, covers, etc.
  • Assist editors with various editing tasks, including proofreading, reviewing indexes, etc.
  • Perform checks related to the end of the book-production process, including preproduction checks and reviews of printer proofs and ebook files.
  • Handle routine administrative tasks, including scheduling editorial meetings, preparing files for CIP data, and printing and mailing items on behalf of colleagues.

Qualifications:The successful candidate will possess a master's degree in biblical studies, theology, church history, or a related field and a desire to work in academic religious publishing. Proofreading proficiency is required. The candidate should demonstrate a strong editorial aptitude, meticulous attention to detail, and basic computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Word.

Compensation and Benefits:Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
