The Product Engineer (PE) will partner with a Product Manager to successfully manage and grow their product line in an entrepreneurial environment. The PE is the product subject matter expert and works with suppliers on all technical aspects of product development, evaluation, new product introduction, and support through the product life cycle. Primary product ownership includes sensor and power supply components. The PE is a servant leader and works cross functionally with internal and external teams.
Responsibilities
Leverage your experience and product knowledge to select and assist in the development of the best products to grow the product line and meet customer’s needs
Product ownership throughout the product life cycle
Evaluate and test new products and technologies
Support product through new product introductions, documentation, training, and second tier backline support (only during normal business hours)
Life-cycle projects to improve product quality or lower product cost
Supplier evaluation including product offering, technology roadmap, support capabilities, product packaging and barcoded labels
Some scheduled domestic and international travel is required
Requirements
Requires education in technical discipline with preference for BS in mechanical or electrical engineering OR at least 10 years of related experience
Requires 7 years' experience (10 years preferred) in industrial control & automation market or OEM/manufacturing of sensor or power supply products. Preferred experience includes product application, control system integration, hands-on calibration, configuration, technical support, and/or product design involving sensors or power supplies. Similar experience in related markets such as building automation and medical equipment may be considered
Experience with various sensing technologies (inductive, capacitive, photoelectric, ultrasonic, potentiometric and magnetostrictive)
Experience with DC power supplies, redundancy modules, DC UPS and electronic circuit protection
Experience with industrial control products such as PLCs, HMIs, process instrumentation or signaling is desirable
Experience with agency approvals (UL, CSA, CE, RoHS, etc.) is desirable
Experience with CAD such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc. is desirable
Must possess self-confidence, organizational skills, time management skills and excellent communication skills
Must also be self-starter that is able to work on and manage projects independently, meet deadlines and have excellent interpersonal skills
Compensation
$95,000 to $120,000 annual salary, depending on experience
