Position Summary

The Disability & Inclusion Coordinator is responsible for developing and delivering programs for youth and adults with disabilities, while also overseeing the Chaverim program. The Disability & Inclusion Coordinator coordinates monthly programs, manages transportation logistics, and contributes to the strategic vision for program growth. Additionally, the Disability & Inclusion Coordinator engages in outreach to recruit new participants and ensure that program events align with JCC policies. This role also provides comprehensive support to the adult day program, managing administrative tasks, incorporating Judaic content into programming, and ensuring compliance with reporting guidelines. In addition, this role assists with other programs within the Youth & Adult department, lead department classes, and collaborate with various JCC departments.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Create and manage monthly calendar for Chaverim, ensuring a variety of engaging activities
  • Manages all department transportation logistics
  • Perform administrative tasks, maintain program records, program communication, payments, billing, etc.
  • Provide comprehensive daily support to the adult day program, ensuring smooth operations and exceptional service delivery
  • Provide direct service to Kid Center, Vacation Days, and AM Rec Camp as needed
  • Incorporate Judaic content into programming, as appropriate
  • Ensure reports, documentation and data collection meet United Way report guidelines and other grants as requested
  • Assist with and leads department classes, providing academic tutoring, as needed
  • Collaborate with the Disability & Inclusion Director to identify and develop new external partnerships
  • Plan, coordinate, and participate in staff training based on the needs and interests of the staff within the Youth & Adult department
  • Support and maintain awareness of annual budget for Chaverim, and support efforts that fiscal goals are met
  • Flexible working hours depending on weekly Chaverim calendar
  • Provide dedicated support to the MOD (Manager on Duty) program through regular weekly shifts and quarterly weekend shifts
  • Perform other duties and assume additional responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Requirements (KSA’s)

  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer software: including MS Word, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; customer-service orientation with specific strength in diplomacy and discretion strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Jewish culture, values, and traditions, as well as ability to exhibit sensitivity to cultural differences
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, work well in group problem-solving situations, and use reason when navigating emotional challenges
  • Ability to listen and seek clarification, respond effectively to questions, adapt to changes in the work environment and cope with frequent change, delays and unexpected events
  • Ability to resolve conflict effectively and demonstrate maturity, as well as the ability work well with a variety of people
  • Ability to respond effectively to constructive criticism and provide constructive feedback to team educators, and ensure that an environment which fosters maximum physical, social, cognitive, and emotional development of children is developed and maintained
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team

Education And/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working with participants with disabilities, group home settings, or older adults
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification for infants, children, and adults required or ability to certify upon hire

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach above shoulders; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
