Position Description
The Director of Video Production manages U.S. Soccer’s in-house video department. The ideal candidate can lead a crew from an overarching strategic and operational standpoint while maintaining limited hands-on involvement in production. This individual will help drive the strategic vision of the video team and map the department’s future in alignment with the Federation’s goals. The position requires the ability to think and plan strategically in collaboration with other U.S. Soccer stakeholders; manage staff, agencies, and production groups; lead the production, organization, and editing of video content; support ideation and strategy; and flexibly and proactively contribute across multiple areas of the business on a day-to-day basis.
This position will need to travel according to the needs of the department and the sporting calendar and should be available to work on weekends and holidays when required.
Primary Responsibilities
Lead all aspects of digital video production across all U.S. Soccer digital platforms
Manage full-time video department staff, plus a vast freelancer network and per-diem employees
Assist in planning, tracking, and supervising video department annual budget to ensure quality, scale, effectiveness and efficiency.
Direct projects and crews across various remote locations with multiple simultaneous deadlines
Manage contacts and relationships with third-party agencies and production companies, including sourcing, supervising, and communicating throughout all aspects of projects
Ideate, pitch, and implement new concepts for USSF video series in partnership with digital, content, integrated marketing and brand teams that further Federation goals
Work with corporate partnerships to develop integrated video content franchises that achieve both Federation and partner objectives.
Develop and enforce video department style guidelines, brand standards and best practices
Ensure footage is properly organized and cataloged in U.S. Soccer’s media library, maintaining the video archive’s systems and servers and enforcing DAM organizational best practices
Maintain, track, and coordinate equipment usage, shipping, and logistics at events around the world
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
7+ years of related industry experience, specifically in a production team environment
3+ years of proven managerial experience of a production team
Passion for visual storytelling and elevating brands through digital media
Proven ability and experience to manage stress and deliver high quality work under pressure and multiple simultaneous deadlines
Proven ability to see through a project individually from preproduction, to shooting, lighting, sound mixing, editing and finishing, all on deadline
Understanding of media asset management best practices, software, systems, servers, etc.
Experience in the field with digital cinema cameras, sound, and lighting techniques
Strong video editing skills with an advanced knowledge of NLE systems (preferably Premiere)
Quick learner who can function well in the fast-paced environment mandated by sports
Able and willing to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Able and willing to travel up to 30% of the time both domestically and internationally
Passport required
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus
