U.S. Soccer is currently building a National Training Center in Fayette County, GA. This role will be reporting to the office in Fayetteville, GA.

Position Description

The Director of Supply Chain and Logistics will pay a critical role during the design and opening phases of U.S. Soccer’s National Training Center (NTC) in Atlanta, Georgia. During the construction phase of the NTC, the Director of Supply Chain and Logistics will be responsible for overseeing the warehouse layout and design, consolidating and moving all warehouse/inventory operations to Atlanta, and creating a robust inventory management system and processes.

Once the NTC is fully open and functioning, the Director of Supply Chain and Logistics will have oversight and management over the facility's Warehouses, Inventory Management, Transportation/Fleet and Purchasing functions.

Primary Responsibilities

The Director of Supply Chain and Logistics is responsible for overseeing all warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory management, and order fulfillment. This role will ensure the efficient and effective use of warehouse space and resources to meet customer needs and organizational goals.

National Training Center (NTC) Construction Period

  • Work closely with the Senior Director of Equipment Operations to understand current Inventory, Equipment, Sports Medicine, High Performance, and Communications gear and operating locations across the Federation.
  • Develop a detailed plan for consolidation, timeline, physical move to Atlanta and liquidation (if necessary).
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or delays, and implement mitigation strategies as needed
  • Raise and elevate any non-compliance or on-going project issues promptly and implement corrective actions as necessary
  • Provide regular updates on project status, milestones achieved, and any significant developments

National Training Center Operating Period and Ongoing Duties

  • Develop strategy for creation of and build-out of Warehouse, Inventory Control, Procurement and Transportation Teams.
  • Develop job descriptions, policies, procedures and schedules
  • Recruit, hire and onboard Warehouse, Inventory Control, Procurement and Transportation Teams
  • Provide direct oversight, direction, management and coordination of all functional areas within the Department and promote excellent working relationship with all departments, with the primary purpose to serve our National Teams at the highest level
  • Ability to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and professional development

Warehouse Operations

  • Manage all aspects of warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, and distribution of goods.
  • Develop and implement warehouse policies and procedures to ensure compliance with safety, security, and quality standards.
  • Optimize warehouse layout and space utilization to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
  • Monitor inventory levels and oversee inventory control processes to minimize stockouts and overstock situations.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions and warehouse activities.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance warehouse efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards governing warehouse operations.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, suppliers, and logistics providers to ensure timely delivery of goods.

Procurement

  • Development and oversight of the Federation’s purchasing function, including sourcing, procurement, vendor management, and contract negotiation.
  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize costs, quality, and supplier relationships.

Transportation

  • Development and oversight of the Federation’s transportation team, including fleet management, routing, scheduling, and compliance.
  • This role will develop and implement transportation strategies to optimize costs, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Other duties, functions, special projects and responsibilities as assigned by the CFO.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: Five to seven years of experience in supply chain and logistics management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Knowledge: A strong understanding of supply chain management principles and best practices including inventory management, scheduling, procurement and budgeting.
  • Leadership Skills: The ability to lead a team effectively, manage staff, and oversee operations smoothly. Experience in managing a diverse team is valuable.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with staff, teams, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Organizational Skills: The ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and ensure that operations run smoothly.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using inventory, logistics and purchasing software, scheduling tools, and other relevant technology.

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience working at a faced pace warehouse and/or sporting organization
  • Able and willing to work non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends on an ad-hoc basis
  • Passion for soccer is a plus
