Summary:

As a Director of Project Engineering, you will build and lead a successful Project Engineering Team who delivers complex integrated mechanical systems on time, on budget and with high quality.

Reports to: Vice President of Integration and Engineering

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in managing or leading Mechanical Engineering team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering field is preferred (Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Electrical Engineering).
  • Strong operational background and proven track record of accomplishments in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Experience in an organization with complex infrastructure, applications, and procedures in a cross-functional team environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of standard methodologies in mechanical engineering technology.
  • Strong computer skills using AutoCAD 2D/3D, Point Cloud, Navisworks, Recap, Inventor, Solidworks, MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio, and familiarity with specialty applications for project and resource collaboration such as SharePoint.

Responsibilities:

  • Propose and implement work processes, procedures, and technical resources in accordance with the Engineering Policy, Key Principles, and the Project Management Activity per DMW&H standards and processes.
  • Coordinate personnel (e.g., other project engineers, technicians, contractors etc.) to ensure the projects’ objectives are satisfied.
  • Manage expectations, set realistic goals, implement processes and metrics to ensure the Team is efficient, focused, and able to achieve objectives.
  • Continue to develop professional skills in the engineering department through the Performance Appraisal process, coaching and continuous training.
  • Develop and control the cost of the project in accordance with the Guidelines for Capital Investment.
  • Propose and monitor the project in accordance with the key performance indicators.
  • Develop and follow a project plan and hold your team accountable for delivering all projects according to the project schedule and budget.
  • Ensure that all project parts are delivered according to the project schedule and budget.
  • Demonstrate and promote the Company's values.
  • Support and encourage clear and open communication between the team members and related stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all projects are designed for the long term and result in a positive impact on the Company.
  • Always ensure the design of safe work sites and installations that are easy to operate, clean and maintain as well as guaranteeing after commissioning the safe, consistent quality products.
  • Ensure that when working with external engineering services, contractors, suppliers etc. that the scope, deliverables, performance, and milestones are clearly detailed and agreed up front.
  • Ensure that the project scope is achieved within the agreed cost and timing.
  • Ensure that the engineers are properly trained in all engineering-related activities.
  • Manage the allocation of all employee time and expenses.
  • Provide direction for developing and maintaining projects and resource schedules, and project management ensuring successful, on-time, on budget and with high quality deliveries.
  • Define accountability for project delivery and hold your team accountable.
  • Define department processes and metrics ensuring the team’s efficiency, focus, and overall output.
  • Define proper expectations, set realistic goals, and hold your team accountable to achieve them.
  • Identify and maintain required technical training, guidance, and resource support for end users and staff.
  • Establish the proper efforts and proper parts (time and cost) required for your team to design, install, and deliver systems.
  • Provide leadership and coordination on projects assigned to Project Engineering team managers and engineers.
  • Hold the Project Engineering team to high standards by developing user documentation and departmental policies and procedures that impact the use of application systems.
  • Set the stage for developing professional skills in the Project Engineering department through continuous training.
  • Collaborate and provide the necessary support for our Sales, Application, Project Management, Procurement, Controls, Electrical, and PSG teams.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed strategy for creating a highly efficient Project Engineering team by:

- Increasing the Project Engineering team’s project output while maintaining projects on time delivery, within budget and with high quality

- Working with our external vendor to deliver project needs on time, within budget and high quality.

- Creating and following proper procedures required for producing quality and efficiency projects.

- Creating and following methodologies for tracking projected hours and buyouts vs. actual hours and buyouts spent on each project.
