Director of Payroll is responsible for overseeing all aspects of payroll processing and payroll operations. They ensure accurate and timely execution of payroll activities, compliance with payroll regulations, and the development of strategies to enhance payroll processes and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee, manage, and supervise all payroll processes and procedures.
  2. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of payroll cycles, including processing timesheets, computation of employee wages, and withholding of taxes and other deductions.
  3. Develop, implement and maintain payroll policies, systems, and procedures to ensure adherence to company rules and regulatory compliance.
  4. Coordinate with HR and Accounting departments to verify payroll data such as hours worked, insurance coverage, and tax deductions.
  5. Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer employee queries about payroll-related matters.
  6. Prepare and present reports on payroll operations to senior management.
  7. Oversee payroll system and maintain up-to-date payroll records.
  8. Keep updated knowledge about changing payroll tax laws, regulations, and best practices. ( California and Texas)
  9. Manage, mentor, and develop payroll team members.
  10. Collaborate with external auditors and manage payroll tax audits.

Qualifications:

  1. A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  2. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification would be a plus.
  3. Several years of experience in payroll processing, including experience in a supervisory/management role.
  4. Strong knowledge of payroll systems and software, payroll tax laws, and regulations.
  5. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  6. Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  8. High attention to detail and accuracy.
  9. Familiarity with accounting principles and understanding of HR functions related to payroll.
