Position: Director of Experiential Learning / Practicum

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah

Remote WFH (Work from Home) for 3-6 months after that WFO (work from Office) Salt Lake City Office

Job Summary: Saras AI Institute is seeking a forward-thinking and dynamic Director of Experiential Learning / Practicum to lead and enhance our experiential learning programs. This key leadership role involves the strategic design, implementation, and continuous improvement of comprehensive experiential learning opportunities, including internships, co-op programs, and capstone projects. The ideal candidate will leverage their strong network of industry connections to facilitate meaningful partnerships and provide students with real-world experience. The Director will balance academic and administrative responsibilities, offering a unique opportunity to shape the future of experiential learning. This position reports directly to the Chief Academic Officer.

Key Responsibilities

Program Design and Development:

  • Lead the strategic design and continuous enhancement of experiential learning programs, including internships, co-op programs, and capstone projects.
  • Ensure these programs integrate rigorous academic foundations with practical, hands-on applications.
  • Incorporate the latest advancements in industry practices and methodologies into the experiential learning opportunities.
  • Develop and implement innovative strategies to enhance student learning outcomes through real-world experience.

Industry Engagement

  • Forge and maintain strong partnerships with industry leaders to facilitate internships, co-op programs, and capstone projects.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with companies to provide students with high-quality, relevant experiential learning opportunities.
  • Invite industry experts to guest lecture, lead workshops, and provide critical feedback on experiential learning initiatives.

Faculty Collaboration And Mentorship

  • Collaborate with faculty members to integrate experiential learning components into the curriculum.
  • Mentor and support faculty in developing and overseeing experiential learning opportunities for students.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative learning environment that bridges academic theory and practical application.

Program Evaluation And Assessment

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive evaluation system to assess the effectiveness of experiential learning programs.
  • Collect and analyze data on student performance, learning outcomes, and satisfaction.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to inform program revisions and continuous improvement.

Administrative Duties

  • Manage the budget and resources allocated for experiential learning programs.
  • Oversee the scheduling and coordination of internships, co-op programs, and capstone projects.
  • Supervise support staff involved in the administration of experiential learning programs.
  • Actively participate in faculty committees and contribute to the academic governance of the institute.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Master degree in Education, Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in experiential learning, industry engagement, or related areas.
  • Experience in teaching at the undergraduate level.

Experience

  • Proven track record in designing, developing, and assessing experiential learning programs.
  • Extensive network of industry contacts and experience in establishing partnerships.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Additional Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in developing online or blended learning components for experiential programs.
  • Familiarity with project-based learning and applied research.
  • Publications or presentations related to experiential learning or industry partnerships.



Appointment

  • This is a non-tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor faculty appointment.
