Director of Development/Fundraising - New Hire Incentive Available

Description: We are seeking candidates for our Director of Development/Fundraising position.

SUMMARY: The Director of Development will serve as a member of the Community Progress Council's leadership team. This person will build and implement a development strategy that engages the community and grows revenue in alignment with our mission, vision, and strategic priorities. The successful candidate will have the ability to establish the organization's internal fundraising structure while also developing and executing the agency's fundraising strategy, and building external relationships with community leaders, funders, and philanthropists. The Director will work in collaboration with agency's team and board of directors to create a culture of philanthropy that will translate into a successful capital campaign in the next 3 years.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONISBILITIES

  • Be committed to the vision, mission, and values of Community Progress Council.
  • Plan and implement multi-faceted fundraising campaigns (annual giving, planned giving, special events, grant writing, and capital campaigns, etc.) that align with leadership's short and long-term goals and activities.
  • Engage in prospect research, donor cultivation, gift solicitation, and appropriate and timely stewardship.
  • Along with CEO and Board Chair, serve as primary staff liaison/support to mobilize board members in expanding the organization's base of support.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Director to develop a case for support of the organization that aligns with immediate and long-term organizational needs and priorities.
  • Partner with the Executive Assistant to manage the donor database and timely receipt and acknowledgment of gifts, fulfillment of sponsorship, grants, and other donations.
  • Establish fund development policies, procedures, plans, goals, and budget; manage the fund development department budget.
  • Aggressively seek new funding sources, maintain, and build relationships with current/past donors including moving donors up the giving ladder.
  • Plan, manage and implement fundraising events.
  • Work collaboratively with the leadership team and department directors to identify fundraising opportunities, match them with new/existing funders, and solicit/secure gifts in accordance with and with the utmost respect for the Donor's Bill of Rights.
  • Provide professional quality customer service to donors, volunteers, staff, and other community contacts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Competencies

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to close five or six figure gifts with individuals, corporations, and organizations.
  • Prior experience in working with board members to advance fundraising efforts and annual fund experience required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, strong organizational skills, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Creativity, vision, and ability to lead others.
  • Proven track record of accomplishing goals while balancing multiple priorities.
  • Experience with Donor Perfect or other fundraising data management systems.
  • Experience in cultivating/maintaining relationships with major donors.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with individuals of diverse backgrounds and ages.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional nights and/or weekends.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from an accredited four-year college or university plus a minimum of 5 years in fundraising experience with proven track record of raising $1 million+ annually using multiple fundraising strategies. Three years of supervisory experience; CFRE preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Ability to be reached by phone in a timely manner. May be required to commence workday at different agency sites. Flexibility to work nights and weekends is required to meet the needs of clients and program.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. Exhibit proficient knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and basic letter writing skills. Bi-lingual is preferred but not required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER: Proficient in the use of Office 365. The ability to learn and utilize new software systems with proficiency is essential.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Federal FBI Clearance results, PA State Criminal History, Childline Child Abuse, and National Sex Offenders Registry (NSOR) Certification required prior to hire; due within 30-days of hire, a physical assessment including a tuberculosis skin test. Child Abuse "Mandated Reporter" training due within 90- days of hire. A valid license and access to reliable transportation is required.
