Position Overview

This pivotal role is crucial to the ongoing and future growth plans of the Company's Cell Therapy Manufacturing Center. The Director of Accounting oversees financial operations, planning, and cost accounting across internal manufacturing sites and Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs). Collaborating closely with manufacturing, supply chain, and clinical development teams, the Director provides essential reporting and analysis to corporate finance and accounting leadership, including the SVP of Finance and CFO. The role includes managing the Associate Director Plant Controller and ensuring robust financial controls, efficient accounting processes, and seamless coordination with external auditors.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Manage monthly/quarterly close processes for general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements for LLC entities.
  • Conduct account reconciliation analysis and review journal entries in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Develop and maintain internal control structures to ensure compliance.
  • Assist Corporate Finance with technical accounting and disclosures, including research and preparation of memos.
  • Support internal and external financial audits.
  • Design and implement systems, procedures, and policies for cost accounting.
  • Develop Bill of Materials and standard costs for raw materials inventories and cost of goods sold (COGS).
  • Supervise local PA accounting to support KOZ status and reporting requirements.
  • Create budgets and forecasts for manufacturing operations and monitor actual results against budgets and forecasts.
  • Analyze trends in key performance indicators across production areas, including cost of sales, overhead, and labor.
  • Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis.
  • Ensure integrity of the Company’s accounting systems.
  • Adhere to company core values, policies, procedures, and business ethics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Travel

  • Ability to travel as needed to other worksites.


Required Education, Skills, and Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • 12+ years of progressive accounting experience with a focus on cost accounting, preferably in the biopharmaceutical industry; CPA and Big 4 experience strongly preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of cost accounting principles.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial accounting.
  • Experience in a Sarbanes-Oxley controlled environment.
  • Previous biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
  • NetSuite experience is a plus.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex strategies and analysis clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across functions.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to see the big picture.
  • Proactive problem solver, capable of presenting problems and recommendations.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to prioritize workload independently based on organizational needs, with a sense of urgency when required.
