About The Opportunity

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Director for Engagement and Operations, The Director of the Latinx Cultural Center is an integral part of the Cultural and Spiritual Life (CSL) team at Northeastern University. The Director is responsible for providing leadership and vision in the development, coordination and implementation of co-curricular and extra-curricular programs, education, training, and support services. The Director will advance work that promotes and supports the academic, personal, social, cultural, and professional growth of Latinx learners in a context that fosters success while recognizing and respecting dynamic intersectional life experiences and perspectives.

The Director supervises the Latinx Cultural Center Staff and collaborates with academic and administrative units across the global network on diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging initiatives designed to enhance the student experience. Working in partnership with the Center for Intercultural Engagement, the John D. O'Bryant African American Institute, the Asian American Center, the LGBTQA Resource Center, and the Center for Spirituality, Dialogue, & Service, the Director of the Latinx Cultural Center will ensure that students of all identities and intersections develop a sense of belonging and connection to Northeastern.

Qualifications

This position requires a minimum of a master’s degree, preferably in higher education, social work, intercultural studies, or a related field. Proven experience in working effectively with Latinx learners and/or communities, and extensive knowledge of Latinx issues/experiences also required. 2-3 years of supervision and team management is required.

Prior experience working with faculty to develop initiatives for student success preferred. Minimum of 5 – 7 years of working in higher education is preferable. Experience in developing/facilitating workshops and training programs is highly desirable. Strong administrative, organizational, marketing, assessment, leadership, and cross-cultural communication skills, along with formal advising experience is crucial.
