Primary Purpose

We are seeking a Clinical and Translational Informatics Subject Matter Expert to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in advancing clinical informatics and interoperability standards in cancer care. As a subject matter expert (SME), you will lead efforts to develop and refine workflows that integrate United States Core Data for Interoperability (USCDI) standards with cancer care practices. You will collaborate closely with healthcare providers, IT specialists, and data scientists to ensure seamless integration and adherence to standards throughout the patient care journey. You will also provide clinical and informatics expertise on precision medicine and other research programs within the cancer research space.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the SME on USCDI+Cancer, providing expertise and guidance on workflow development to optimize interoperability and data exchange in cancer care settings at the intersection of Clinical and informatics.
  • Lead efforts to develop and define the Common Data Elements (CDEs) for cancer within the USCDI framework, ensuring comprehensive data capture and standardization for improved clinical decision-making and research.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess current workflows, identify opportunities for optimization, and implement solutions to enhance interoperability and data quality.
  • Act as a precision medicine and clinical SME for the Precision Medicine and Advanced Cancer Care (PMACC) program, providing insights and recommendations to support personalized treatment approaches and clinical decision support systems.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and developments in healthcare standards, interoperability, and precision medicine, and proactively contribute to the evolution of best practices and standards within the organization.
  • Work for this position must be performed in the United States (required). Candidates local to Rockville, MD are preferred.
  • Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for Public Trust positions. Visa sponsorship is not available.
  • Successful applicants will be required to travel to an NIH-designated facility for security badging within 60 days of hire. Expenses will be reimbursed.

Qualifications

  • 15+ Years Experience Required
  • M.D. or Ph.D. Required
