Who We Are
We are a registered 501c3 non-profit organization that provides support to the refugee community in Connecticut. We specialize in providing care and services to the Afghan refugee population, however we have a diverse clientele that ranges from many different continents. We help clients learn English, obtain their driver’s permit, get access to donation items, get vaccinated, connect with local healthcare providers, and more.

What you’ll be doing
As the Development Manager, your job will be to oversee fundraising, donor data, social media, and donor events, among other related duties. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic fundraiser to work 15-20 hours/week. Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications. Our intention is to increase the time commitment and pay rate as our resources grow. This is a hybrid position that will require in-person work for donor meetings and events (usually in central/southern Connecticut). You will report directly to the Executive Director.
What we need from you
- Create and execute Strategic Development Plan to guide our small and ambitious team as we move to the next level.
- Build successful, authentic relationships with donors, volunteers, and community partners to expand donor base, increase overall giving, and achieve fundraising goals.
- Engage and support Board members and staff in expanding their cultivation and solicitation skills.
- Create content for annual appeals, social media, stewardship, and donor communications.
- Maintain clean and accurate donor records, prepare gift acknowledgements, and assist the Executive Director in creating relevant data reports.
- Plan and implement special events to engage community and donors and build name recognition.
- Partner with the volunteer Grants team to provide support as needed.
- Budget management.
- Strong cultural awareness and knowledge of cultural humility when working with and on behalf of the refugee community.
What skills and experience you’ll bring to us
- Prior fundraising experience
- Experience creating content for annual appeals, newsletters, donor stewardship
- Experience with CRM database and communication tools, preferably Salesforce and Mailchimp, with strong attention to detail
- Events management experience
- Social media content creation
- Passionate about the values and ideals important to Elena’s Light
