The Design Engineer represents the knowledge required to produce drill string components that are the best available in the industry. Using a combination of 3D design software, various calculation tools, and mechanical intuition, the design engineer produces designs that deliver continuously improving customer value.
Responsibilities:
Provide assistance to the Engineering Manager as requested.
Produce Creo drawings in support of shop production.
Produce Creo rendered drawings in support of sales/marketing.
Perform and check most types of calculations and designs using both computer aided and manual techniques in both standard and imperial measurements.
Ability to process designs including developing concepts, 3D modeling and materials knowledge.
Continual development/improvement of drawing standards.
Maintain file management of drawing database.
Perform all of the following: organize/plan jobs in order of priority, write/review specifications to ensure accuracy to current company standards.
Work with personnel from other disciplines as required for the performance enhancement of the designs.
Project management for research and development.
Ensure that all drill string design projects are optimized for Epiroc platform drills.
Lead consumable product development projects where Epiroc platform drill integration is critical.
Requirements:
5+ Years of Mechanical Engineering experience and/or Research & Development Mining Experience
3D/2D CAD Software experience required
Basic computational analysis software (FEA/CFD)
Engineering problem solving techniques
Production drilling industry experience a plus
General mechanical aptitude

This opportunity is on-site out of Garland, TX. Only local candidates will be considered.
Travel:
The Design Engineer is required to visit the Epiroc Langley, BC facility minimum one week per two months.
