The Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Mental Health Services provides mental health and personal counseling services to all IU School of Medicine students, residents and fellows on every IU School of Medicine campus.

The Data Analyst will focus on completing data entry, data queries, data management, and data interpretation for the Department of Mental Health Services at Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM).

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes complex queries to extract data from electronic medical record system.
  • Manages and ensures the integrity of large datasets.
  • Provides experienced data analysis, comprehensive, and insightful reports.
  • Works closely with clinical staff and faculty to understand data requirements and translate clinical research questions into data queries, analyses, and reports.
  • Maintains clear data documentation (sources, report specifications, tools, coding, queries, issues, and solutions).
  • Stays abreast of up-to-date tools and technologies that can be implemented to improve data analysis services and clinical research.
  • Participates in departmental research projects, including publications.
  • Manages data query.
  • Collaborates with clinical team.
  • Supports additional administrative responsibilities, as needed.
  • Performs experienced analysis to interpret and determine validity and quality of data.
  • Performs migration and conversion of data as needed in support of analysis efforts.

General Responsibilities

  • Provides analysis of existing data and data structures and satisfies ad-hoc reporting/analysis requests.
  • Creates reporting specifications for new reports/dashboards/analytical tools and assists in testing/validation; ensures integrity, accessibility, and accuracy of reports/dashboards and data structures; reviews and approves user requests for access to reporting data and tools.
  • Consults with faculty and/or staff to identify new business reporting needs and provides guidance and interpretation of complex environments and data.
  • Documents data analysis efforts (data sources, reporting specifications, tools, issue/problem resolutions).
  • Researches and stays up-to-date on emerging technologies and data analysis tools.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in computer science, information science, or related field.

Preferred

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 2 years of professional experience outside of internship.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

$43,000 - $48,00 per year based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

Indianapolis, Indiana

This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
