Summary

Manage and lead the administration of Ingram Micro’s Dangerous Goods compliance program. Develops and administers best-in-class processes and systems to ensure dangerous goods are transported safely and in compliance with applicable 49 CFR, IATA, and TDG regulations. Supports the design, development, and implementation of dangerous goods policies, guidelines, and procedures. This role will also act as a DG specialist responsible for resolving compliance gaps and driving new compliance initiatives. Facilitates and partners with teams to ensure organizational compliance, maintain solid relationships, and remediate concerns internally and externally. The qualified individual will be ultimately responsible for the compliance against domestic, regional and global regulatory policies governing dangerous goods transport.

Your Role:

Dangerous Goods Regulations, Classification and Impact Analysis

  • Maintains current, expert knowledge base of applicable Dangerous Goods Regulations and legislation including but not limited to 49CFR, IATA and TDG.
  • Analyze potential impact on business processes, provide timely summaries and action plans to Compliance management team.
  • Identify regulatory risk and provide guidance for risk mitigations.
  • Quickly absorbs and presents on complex dangerous goods topics to diverse stakeholders and clients.
  • Effectively communicates and provides guidance on how to resolve issues and meet nuanced regulatory requirements to associates. Properly documents these actions in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Review and analyze contractual and other documents regarding dangerous goods and, when applicable, develop, implement, and document the appropriate compliance response.
  • Propose systemic and procedural solutions in anticipation of or in response to regulatory changes.
  • Responsible for dangerous goods classification for all modes of transport, in adherence to applicable Dangerous Goods Regulations including but not limited to 49CFR, IATA and TDG Canada regulations.
  • Assignment of Ingram Micro-internal hazmat identifier (labels, marks, packaging, training, and documentation requirements) for all dangerous goods product
  • Effectively distribute and prioritize workflow to maximize efficiency in classification of products.
  • Drive continuous process improvements and streamline daily operations through the development and improvement of classification operations processes and procedures.
  • Dangerous Goods Program management

Dangerous Goods Operations

  • Works with internal business partners to provide regulatory guidance on packaging, specification, marking, labeling, and shipping documents to support day-to-day DG operation.
  • Respond to internal and partner inquiries regarding proper marking, labeling and shipment of dangerous goods.
  • SME for daily dangerous goods compliance operations including but not limited to determining accurate dangerous goods classifications
  • Capture issues and create corrective actions requests for dangerous goods shipment issues.
  • Serves as primary point of contact with carriers for any issues relating to the transportation of dangerous goods.
  • Coordinate issue resolution with carriers and regulators when dangerous goods shipment issues are identified.
  • Drive continuous process improvements and streamline daily operations through the development and improvement of internal controls and procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and maintain best in class compliance business processes that scale
  • Works on complex issues with limited or no precedence, where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors
  • Manages regulatory enforcement actions involving dangerous goods in cooperation with Quality Assurance, Corporate ESG, Health & Safety, Legal and external regulatory agencies as applicable.
  • Advises management and operations on the safe transport of dangerous goods by all modes of transportation.
  • Act as point of contact for emergency response information provider if an incident occurs.
  • Prepare incident notifications and telephone/written reports, when required.
  • Review, manage, coordinate, and maintain records in compliance with applicable Dangerous Goods Regulations.

Training, Compliance Audits and KPIs

  • Develop and implement targeted and focused compliance trainings on areas identified through risk assessment and/or audit results.
  • Responsible for reviewing and ensuring SOPs, process flows and training documents on dangerous goods are accurate, relevant and reflect current policies and procedures.
  • Conduct on-going training focused on compliance with Dangerous Goods Regulations.
  • Provide ongoing guidance and direction to IM subsidiaries and business units on Dangerous Goods Regulations as opportunities arise.
  • Responsible for Dangerous Goods training program administration
  • Develops and leads dangerous goods audits and risk assessments to evaluate risk and validate the effectiveness of Ingram Micro’s compliance programs.
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled on-site dangerous goods shipping audits at Ingram Micro facilities
  • Develop, implement and monitor corrective action plans for identified risks, driving them to closure.
  • Represent Ingram Micro during regulatory inspections and discussions with regulators
  • Manage and audit Dangerous Goods Program for all Ingram Micro subsidiaries and business units.
  • Initiate and implement new audit requirements and programs to ensure applicability and current to meet the needs of evolving regulations that directly impact Ingram Micro’s Dangerous Goods compliance program.
  • Develops, analyzes and utilizes KPIs to identify trends, risk, quality improvement opportunities and advocates corrective action with internal and external stakeholders
  • Monthly reporting, quarterly presentations

Dangerous Goods System & Tool Maintenance

  • Audit and update systemic tools when changes are made to regulations and new hazardous products are introduced into the network.
  • Act as dangerous goods SME on process and systemic improvement projects
  • Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with internal subject matter experts and stakeholders as well as affiliated support organizations to improve dangerous goods safety and compliance performance.
  • Identify and lead dangerous goods improvement projects with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting to drive towards a best in class dangerous goods compliance program.
  • Provides expert consultation to internal client organizations (including IT in the design of effective DG solutions) to ensure applicable dangerous goods regulations are interpreted and applied to policies and support critical operational & business needs

What you bring to the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business management or related field
  • 5-10 years dangerous goods program experience
  • 5 or more years relevant work experience in project management in a cross functional environment
  • Currently Certified in Dangerous Goods Shipping (IATA/49CFR)
  • Expert knowledge of the Dangerous Goods Regulations (IATA/49CFR); knowledge of TDG a plus
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills; ability to prioritize among demanding and sometimes conflicting requirements.
  • Effectively balance service with regulatory compliance in time sensitive situations.
  • Must have a business-oriented, pragmatic approach to challenges that arise in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop and deliver training.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism, including dealing with complex and sensitive matters
  • Flexible, positive and hardworking team player and motivator

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $105,500.00 - $179,400.00 per year.

The ranges above reflect the potential annual base pay across the U.S. for all roles; the applicable base pay range will depend on the candidate’s primary work location, pay grade, and variable compensation plan. Individual base pay within each range depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time of hire. New hires starting base pay generally falls in the bottom half (between the minimum and midpoint) of a pay range.
