In this role, you will work closely with our dynamic Product Design and Client Solutions teams and with world-renowned faculty from UC Berkeley and the Haas School of Business in support of learners and executives from our corporate, government and university clients.  


About the role


Berkeley Executive Education is seeking a Curriculum Designer with a learner-centered, research-based, iterative approach to curriculum design who can develop proposals, RFPs and collateral materials for business development purposes, and learning journeys that are engaging, relevant, and valuable to our learners.  

The person in this role will partner with our Client Solutions team to understand the needs of the market and will ultimately shape the learning journeys for thousands of professional learners around the world who rely on Berkeley Executive Education for transformative programs. 


Responsibilities


Reporting to the Vice President of Product Design and partnering with the Client Solutions team, the responsibilities of the Curriculum Designer include but are not limited to the following:

  • Speak with potential clients to understand their learning objectives, audience, and the organizational context. Use this information to create proposals, RFPs and collateral materials, in collaboration with colleagues and faculty members, to secure new business
  • Lead or co-lead the collaboration with clients to adjust the custom program to meet their needs and partner with faculty to ensure the program sessions and all learning assets are designed and produced for delivery in person, live online, self-paced online, or blended
  • Collaborate with colleagues on the Product Design, Marketing, and Delivery teams, along with UC Berkeley faculty, to design or refresh Open Enrollment and Comprehensive Leadership Programs
  • Design and support faculty in designing end-to-end learning journeys and curricula based on best-in-class content and effective pedagogy and that use the appropriate delivery method for the learner audience (eg. in-person, live online, self-paced online, or blended)
  • Keep current with industry trends to maintain cutting-edge learning experiences. Research, evaluate, and recommend innovative methods for executive development, including technology based learning, assessment methodologies, coaching and other means to increase the breadth and impact of our offerings
  • Participate in Open Enrollment and Custom program reviews to better understand what resonates in the marketplace and to help develop measurable program-specific improvement plans 
  • Develop standards, processes, and best practices in learning experience design. Ensure inclusive design principles are applied
  • Help identify and help recruit new faculty who can address the most pressing and emerging market and client needs


Required Skills and Qualifications


  • Significant experience (5+ years) in designing learning experiences for professionals, including senior-level executive learners
  • Successful track record of designing programs focused on topics such as leadership, strategy, digital transformation, and other topics relevant to executive learners
  • Strong expertise in developing programs using practice based, innovative teaching methods
  • Experience collaborating with academic faculty on the design of curriculum and learning experiences
  • Experience with multiple learning modalities including in-person and online
  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects and balancing stakeholder expectations 
  • Excellent written and oral communication, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to think outside of the box for creative solutions
  • Agile mindset and ability to work in an entrepreneurial environment, with experience in a start-up environment a plus
  • Experience working with a sales or business development team on consultative product/program development
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Curriculum Design, Instructional Design, Learning Design, or a related field, a master’s degree is a plus

Additional Information

Salary and Benefits


Berkeley Executive Education offers a competitive compensation package, an annual discretionary bonus, and a strong benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k Plan, vacation leave, sick leave, and 17 paid holidays. To give our employees flexibility, Berkeley Exec Ed is a hybrid work environment. Base salary range: $90,000 - $98,000/year.
