Correctional Farms Assistant Manager

Position Summary

This position assumes broad responsibility for the daily management and operation of 3 correctional farms and for the custody and welfare of PIOCs on these farms during the hours they are assigned to work. This position supervises and directs the activities of lower level shift officers. Relieves on various shifts as needed or directed.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule and range 81-33 with a starting pay of $46.92/hour. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period of one year is required.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Shift: 6:00am-3:00pm

This position is not eligible for remote work.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:

  • Managing farm operations (e.g. production, equipment, facilities, animal schedules, etc).
  • Directing animal activities such as feeding, breeding, and general care.
  • Supervisory techniques or lead work (i.e., reviewing work of others, training/orienting new employees, assigning work of others, establishing operating procedures, lead or direct activities of other staff, etc.).
  • Conducting investigations, inquiries, or information research.
