The Delta Companies is a staffing company specializing in the healthcare sector, with a corporate office in Texas. We are seeking an entry level Corporate Counsel with 1-3 years experience to join our team. As a corporate counsel, the relevant areas of support for the company that you would be assisting on are:

  • Reviewing commercial contracts provided by customers and staffing providers in support of the business team.
  • Reviewing vendor contracts.
  • Assisting with the communication between insurance companies, appointed attorneys, and company business leaders relating to legal proceedings.
  • Updating the company on the status of litigation cases and managing licensing/compliance in relevant jurisdictions for a healthcare staffing company.
  • Providing general legal advice and working on projects as assigned by the General Counsel, Chief Strategy Officer, or CEO.
  • For these tasks, it will be required to communicate effectively with outside attorneys and governmental departments/agencies in order to update the General Counsel, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), CEO and other leaders on legal matters.



Must have a law degree and be licensed to practice in a state bar, (preferably Texas), and have experience working in a law firm or in the legal department of a company. An overall team minded and self-motivated attorney with familiarity in reporting on legal matters within a reputable company, and handling licensing compliance is preferable for this position.


Position Description

  • Work closely with and take direction form General Counsel, Chief Strategy Officer, and business leaders.
  • Communicate contract revisions with clients upon requests from the sales department and communicate with the third-party attorney as needed to support company decision making regarding contract terms.
  • Collaborate with third party attorney(s) in preparation for hearings, mediation, and litigation.
  • Comply with the contract review process and update the contract management system continually.
  • Summarize the status of litigation cases and communicate effectively the company’s decision when communicating with insurance companies and outside attorneys.
  • Attend mediation for litigation and other legal cases with attorney(s) as necessary.
  • Assist in preparing legal documents such as motions, contracts, and agreements.
  • Participate in the definition and development of corporate policies, procedures and programs and provide continuing updates on all legal matters and compliance.
  • Assist in reviewing all insurance policies of the company and explaining the requirements as necessary.
  • Conduct legal research and drafting as requested.
  • Successfully complete special projects and other assignments as requested.
  • Provide administrative support for General Counsel and CSO.



SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE

  • This is a hybrid/remote position and you must have a distraction-free dedicated workspace with secure internet connection available during normal working hours. There may be opportunities to participate in company events, which could require travel.
  • Ability to interact with people at all levels of the corporate structure, prioritize and handle numerous competing demands in a high-volume, fast-paced working environment
  • Proven ability to work effectively in independent settings
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of contacts including outside attorneys, senior management, and business associates
  • Excellent at multi-tasking
  • Anticipate support needs of attorneys and business leaders across a variety of corporate legal matters
  • Identify, resolve, or escalate issues in a prompt and timely manner
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer skills, including proficiency with Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Must have a law degree and be licensed to practice in a state bar, (preferably Texas).
  • Experience working in the legal department of a reputable company is a plus.
  • An overall team minded individual and self-motivated attorney with familiarity in reporting on legal matters, and handling licensing compliance is preferrable for this position
  • Minimum of one to three years of experience in a contracts or legal department of a reputable company, or in a law firm
  • Experience in the staffing and/or healthcare industry is a plus


EDUCATION

  • Law school graduate or equivalent, and current member of a state bar is required
