Controller

LaSalle Network has partnered with a growing real estate investment company, located in the north suburbs of Chicago. They are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to manage a team of 5 accountants and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records across multiple locations.

This position is responsible for overseeing the entire month-end cycle, managing daily accounting operations and fulfilling both monthly and annual reporting requirements. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment, providing accurate and timely accounting work while maintaining compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Targeting a base salary of $140,000 -$160,000.

Controller Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of accountants managing books and records for multiple locations
• Oversee month-end close, review journal entries, maintain the general ledger and prepare financial packages
• Manage monthly and annual reporting, ensure adherence to internal policies and external standards
• Supervise accounting operations including AP and AR, create internal policies and coordinate with external tax accountants
• Prepare variance analysis on monthly financial statements, provide actionable insights
• Assist in year-end data gathering and balance sheet analysis
• Ensure accurate and timely accounting while managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Controller Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• CPA certification preferred
• 7+ years of accounting experience, with 3+ years in a managerial role
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
• Proficient in Yardi
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
• Strong leadership and team management abilities
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
