Job Title: Controller for a PE-Backed Company

East 57th Street Partners is actively seeking a forward-thinking and analytical Controller on behalf of one of our esteemed clients. This pivotal role is a full-time opportunity ideally suited for a finance professional who thrives in the domains of financial oversight, strategic financial planning, and organizational leadership within a private equity-backed environment. The Controller will play an instrumental role in steering the financial strategy and ensuring the financial robustness of the company, thereby supporting sustained growth and value creation. This role is located in the Greater Houston Metro Area, and candidates must be based in and willing to go into an office at least 4 days per week.

Role Overview:

As a crucial figure within the executive leadership team, the Controller will lead the organization's financial functions, encompassing financial planning and analysis, accounting and financial reporting, treasury, and finance operations. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic perspective coupled with tangible financial expertise, demonstrating a track record of improving financial outcomes and aligning them with the company’s strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Spearhead the development and implementation of the company’s financial strategy, ensuring it is in harmony with the overarching strategic aims of the business.
• Guide the finance team in all facets of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and managing investments.
• Offer strategic financial insights and leadership on pivotal decision-making issues impacting the company, such as potential mergers, acquisitions, and other investment opportunities.
• Uphold the finance group's integrity through the provision of timely, precise analysis of budgets, financial trends, and forecasts.
• Establish and uphold internal control systems to protect the organization’s financial assets, while ensuring compliance with all financial regulations and standards.
• Collaborate closely with the executive team to provide advice on financial implications of business operations and strategy.
• Maintain relationships with banks, investors, and external financial analysts.
• Oversee the capital structure of the company, identifying the optimal mix of debt, equity, and internal funding to facilitate the company’s growth and stability.

Qualifications:

• Extensive experience in a Controller role, or similar, within a complex organization, showcasing a successful history of financial management and leadership.
• Deep understanding of corporate financial laws, risk management practices, and private equity operations.
• Proficient in financial analysis, forecasting, and financial management software (e.g., ERP systems).
• Strategic thinker with a keen analytical mindset, capable of broad consideration of the business’s financial needs.
• Exceptional organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
• BSc/BA in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field; MSc/MBA or relevant certifications (e.g., CPA or CFA) highly regarded.
