Contracts Manager

As a member of the Habitat for Humanity International Legal Department, the Contracts Manager will oversee the negotiation, drafting, and execution of contracts to ensure compliance with legal and business requirements. Manage contract lifecycles, mitigate risk, and collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate agreements that support Habitat’s goals while minimizing legal exposure.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee and implement process for contract lifecycle management (45%).

o Manage intake, triage, and workflow for review of contracts and work orders.

o Support contract management systems improvements through vendor research, coordinating implementation with IT and Finance, and serving as department subject matter expert on tools.

o With supervising attorney, develop and lead trainings on contracts review process and tools. Maintain online training resources, forms, and samples.

o Administer electronic signatures and manage document storage.

• Support legal review of contracts (25%).

• Coordinate knowledge management projects for the legal department (15%).

• Provide administrative support to legal staff (10%).


Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree

o Additional 5 years of relevant experience and superior writing skills may substitute for educational requirements.

Years of Related Experience:

o Minimum of 2 years legal operational or knowledge management experience using contract lifecycle management or customer relationship management systems for workflows and information management.

o Minimum of 1 year experience reviewing or negotiating contracts; may be alternatively met with legal training or experience indicating superior writing skills (graduate studies, journalism, technical writing).

o Writing and Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for succinct and informative business communications with clients, vendors, and stakeholders.

o Analytical skills: Strong analytical abilities to evaluate contract terms, financial implications, and business requirements to inform decision making and strategy.

o Relationship building: Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders, including internal departments, vendors, clients, and legal staff.

o Legal understanding: Ability to understand and explain business concepts including intellectual property (copyright and trademark in particular), indemnification, limitation of liability, and termination.

o Project management: Proven ability to effectively prioritize tasks, collaborate cross-functionally, communicate openly about progress and needs, and meet deadlines.

o Problem solving: Ability to identify and analyze problems and propose and follow through with solutions.


Preferred Requirements (in addition to minimum):

• Graduate degree or postgraduate certificate relating to information studies (MLIS), law, or nonprofit administration, or equivalent experience.

• Experience implementing data privacy principles; interest in supporting organizational response to evolving regulatory framework.

The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including location, internal equity and the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience. HFHI offers a competitive, comprehensive benefits package that varies by country and typically includes vacation leave, sick leave, personal days, health insurance options, retirement plan contributions and life insurance.


For work locations in the US, the target hiring range for this position is $70,125 - $78,375. The salary range for this position is between $66,000 - $99,000 per year.


Staff hired on a hybrid basis in the United States near an HFHI office location (Atlanta, Georgia), are required to report to the office on Tuesdays.
