Job Description: Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, this position is a key member of the Engineering & Quality team, responsible for safeguarding Modular Devices’ reputation for excellence. You will drive adherence to all applicable regulations & building codes for our unique business model: modular building construction of cleanroom & imaging labs. Your proactive compliance strategies and oversight will ensure our modular buildings remain at the forefront of industry regulations, at both the state and federal levels.

Essential job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Construction Inspection Lead: QC/QA of daily construction activities, maintaining quality documentation and presence on the production floor.
  • Submission & Inspection Liaison: Take ownership of submittals to Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) to streamline approvals. Lead external inspection coordination, communicating effectively with inspectors and internal teams.
  • Design & Manufacturing Collaboration: Partner with design teams and production operations to review build specifications and ensure regulatory adherence alongside exceptional quality throughout the construction process.
  • Code Interpretation & Training: Translate complex regulatory language for internal teams, offering guidance and conducting training sessions to promote company-wide understanding of compliance requirements.
  • Code Compliance Strategist: Analyze codes and identify areas where product modification or alternative solutions are necessary. Recommend strategies in consultation with key stakeholders to ensure seamless compliance.
  • External Partnerships: Develop relationships with code officials, industry associations, and regulatory bodies to maintain open communication and stay informed of industry-wide developments.
  • Industry Trends & Sustainability: Serve as our resident expert on new laws, industry regulations, and evolving sustainability trends shaping the modular construction sector.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify areas for improvement in compliance processes and work alongside teams to implement and refine best practices.

Required Knowledge/Skills:

  • Extensive experience in construction, with a significant focus on compliance in building projects across the US, preferably in modular buildings.
  • Thorough understanding of the Federal, State, and Local regulations applicable to construction projects, including environmental, safety, and construction standards
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex legal and technical documents and apply them to practical construction scenarios
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively convey compliance requirements to a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Knowledge of cleanroom & laboratory applications, USP 797/800 and cGMPs preferred.
  • Strong computer skills across the Microsoft suite is a necessity.
  • Ability to accurately convey information in both spoken and written form.
  • Resourceful, well organized, highly dependable, efficient, and adaptable.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work efficiently to meet commitments.
  • Highly communicative and able to manage multiple modes of communication.
  • High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
  • Ability to identify risk and flag concerns to management.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external customers at various levels of the organization.
  • Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.


Experience & Education:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in construction compliance/management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
    • Equivalent combination of education & experience will be considered.
Remote Work: This role will be primarily performed indoors with limited outdoors construction.

If the need arises to work remote, including nights and weekends, employees are expected to work in a secure location to protect company data and have stable high-speed internet.

Additional requirements:

This is a full-time position. Employees are expected to work a general schedule of 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. Employees may be required to work beyond the standard schedule to meet the deliverables and expectations of the role. Employees working from home employees, like those in an office, should use their time wisely and constructively plan their day since there is limited daily oversight.
