Computational Linguist

Roles And Responsibilities
- NLP Algorithm Development: Design, develop, and optimize NLP algorithms and models for tasks such as text classification, named entity recognition, sentiment analysis, and machine translation.
- Data Processing and Annotation: Collect, preprocess, and annotate linguistic data for training and evaluation of NLP models.
- Statistical and Machine Learning Modeling: Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to analyze and extract insights from textual data.
- Language Resource Development: Create and maintain lexicons, ontologies, and other linguistic resources to support NLP applications.
- Text Corpus Analysis: Perform linguistic analysis and evaluation of text corpora to identify patterns, trends, and linguistic phenomena.
- Software Development and Integration: Collaborate with software engineers to integrate NLP models and algorithms into production systems and applications.
- Evaluation and Performance Metrics: Define evaluation metrics and benchmarks to assess the performance of NLP models and algorithms.
- Research and Innovation: Stay updated with the latest research in computational linguistics and NLP, and contribute to research projects and publications.
- Documentation and Reporting: Document methodologies, results, and findings in technical reports and presentations.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and contribute to project planning and execution.
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Computational Linguistics, Natural Language Processing, Computer Science, Linguistics, or a related field.
- X years of experience in computational linguistics or NLP research and development, preferably in industry or academic settings.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or C/C++ for implementing NLP algorithms and models.
- Experience with NLP libraries and frameworks such as NLTK, SpaCy, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.
- Solid understanding of linguistic principles, syntax, semantics, morphology, and pragmatics.
- Familiarity with machine learning techniques and frameworks for NLP (e.g., SVMs, CRFs, neural networks).
- Proficiency in text processing, data mining, and information retrieval techniques.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
