Commodity Sourcing Manager, Chemicals
Locations: MS-Ecru, Verona, Saltillo, or Tupelo (Either one of the locations)
What Will You Do?
The Chemical Sourcing/Commodity Manager will define and manage the selection and certification of all resin and plastics suppliers that will provide the best-landed value to the Ashley Company. Negotiate and track costs on all components and commodities that are part of the Ashley Company’s chemical and resin supply chain. Train Procurement Specialists and suppliers in the use of all materials management software. Investigate and resolve problems with supplier quality, delivery, packaging or methods that impact on-time delivery or inventory turns. Provide managing negotiations relative to their specific materials production. This position will interact with feedback and input to determine first run dates for new models and suggest changes to release and forecast assembly orders based on raw material availability.
The Chemical Sourcing/Commodity manager is responsible for overseeing the sourcing and procurement of raw materials required for foam pouring, including plastic resin pellets, non-woven materials, and recycled plastic fibers. This role involves managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials. The Chemical Sourcing Manager plays a vital role in maintaining the quality and sustainability standards of our products. They are responsible for ensuring adherence to both department and material budgets. Responsible for all levels of management on a corporate-wide basis as well as with external suppliers.
What Do You Need?
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Packaging, Materials Management or a related field, or equivalent work experience, Required
5 years of purchasing experience in a multi-plant manufacturing environment, Required
Experience in purchasing foam, plastic resin, recycled consumer resin, repurposed fiber, and non-woven materials
APICS and/or ISM certification or achieving and maintaining that certification within 2 years of entering the department, CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management)
ERP/MRP systems · Application of materials management software programs · Broad technical view and understanding of the furniture manufacturing process and overall business including methods that will enhance or improve the speed, quality and cost-effectiveness or related production processes · Document management system
Perform well in a fast-paced work environment
Knowledge of lean manufacturing and supply chain mapping
Effectively communication between departments, plants, and suppliers on issues that will have an impact
