THE ROLE
The Commercial Events Manager at SHACK15 is an excellent commercial strategist for event venue sales and event management, striving to give our clients a five star experience hosting their brands and companies in our iconic space. With undisrupted views of the San Francisco Bay and the Bay Bridge, SHACK15 is one of a kind in Silicon Valley and is ideal for hosting both small and large gatherings –from happy hours and corporate events to conferences, private dining, immersive experiences, holiday parties and more.
The purpose of this role is to be the main point of contact for event organizers and companies, while constantly prospecting and reaching out to new potential clients to showcase SHACK15 and oversee venue rental sales revenue. This role requires excellent coordination and project management skills to ensure that multiple events are being hosted simultaneously and that client requirements are effectively met, but also that our internal team is well equipped to service the event to the best of their capacity.
Ideal candidate will possess:
Minimum of 3 years experience as a Catering Sales Manager in a full-service, upscale hospitality environment (e.g., Marriott, Hilton, Fairmont, Ritz Carlton)
OR
Over 5 years experience as a Corporate Event Manager with a robust client database and established connections in the San Francisco market
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
To effectively manage and oversee the venue and event space rentals to private clients
To proactively seek opportunities to identify opportunities for new clients to experience and host their engagements at SHACK15
Responsible for event coordination, set-up, and execution as the main point of contact onsite
To manage the whole event process from start to finish - from initial space tours, to booking the event, to the hosting of the event and post-event follow up
Working in conjunction with the Food and Beverage team, Events & Programming Manager, Facilities Manager, Operational Manager, and other internal teams, to ensure all support teams are aligned
To deal promptly with any client complaints and/or last-minute requests for changes
To create and develop productive relationships with both existing and new clients interested in events
To ensure that all planning activities are completed within the approved time periods in an efficient, organized, and professional manner
Liaise with and manage speaker or relevant talent to finalize the timeline, arrival details, hospitality requirements, AV requirements etc
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
A strong network to utilize for prospecting new clients
Understanding of, and empathy with, the needs of event organizers
Practical knowledge of how to plan, book, execute, and manage multiple events simultaneously
Ability to organize and follow through a task with attention to detail and to work under pressure to a deadline
Entrepreneurial instinct, and disciplined approach
Dedicated, people-person who thrives in fast-paced environments
Organized, active self-starter with strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Ability to adapt to fast-evolving situations
Collaborative approach with internal and external partners
