The Rockefeller University

Clinical Scholar

We are currently recruiting for the July 2025 class of our Clinical Scholars program, which is designed to provide an ideal educational experience for physician scientists and medically oriented PhD scientists interested in a career in patient-oriented translational research. Most applicants have completed fellowship training, but in select cases, individuals may be considered after residency. It is a 3-year master's degree program funded by our CTSA and a Rockefeller University endowment. The program combines a research experience creating and leading a human subject's protocol under a senior Rockefeller University laboratory leader with a complementary didactic component, including a weekly tutorial that we lead on select topics in clinical research, a weekly lecture by a leading translational scientist followed by an informal lunch, a weekly biostatistics tutorial, and bioinformatics educational programs. Clinical Scholars have essentially 100% protected time for their research. We also have funding for partial medical school loan repayment separate from the NIH program for eligible applicants. The graduates of our program have gone on to receive a variety of NIH grants and to obtain excellent academic, industry, and governmental research positions.

We are especially eager to recruit individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, and individuals with disabilities. We will be pleased to personally discuss the program with individuals from one or more of these groups and to explain our programs and initiatives in diversity, equity, and inclusiveness.

If you or a potential candidate would like additional information about the Clinical Scholars program, please contact us directly or consult our webpage. We would especially appreciate it if you would pass along our email and the information below to anyone you think might want to refer applicants.

Applications are being accepted for July 2025. The deadline for the application and required support documents is December 6, 2024.
