About the Chief Security Officer Role: The Chief Security Officer (CSO) will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive security strategy to protect Vetcor's assets, employees, patients, and information. This executive role requires a forward-thinking leader with extensive experience in physical security, cybersecurity, digital security, risk management, and compliance. The CSO will work closely with senior management, IT, HR, and other departments to create a secure and resilient environment.

Chief Security Officer Key Responsibilities

Security Strategy and Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a strategic security plan that aligns with Vetcor's goals and objectives.
  • Lead and manage the security team, including physical security personnel and cybersecurity experts.
  • Provide leadership and direction on all security-related matters.

Risk Management And Compliance

  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential security threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to mitigate identified risks.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., PCI, HIPAA, GDPR).

Physical Security

  • Oversee the security of all Vetcor facilities, including veterinary hospitals, offices, and data centers.
  • Implement access control systems, surveillance, and other physical security measures.
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency services as needed.

Cybersecurity

  • Develop and maintain a robust cybersecurity program to protect Vetcor's digital assets.
  • Implement and monitor security technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption.
  • Respond to and manage security incidents and breaches.

Incident Response And Crisis Management

  • Develop and maintain incident response and crisis management plans. Lead the response to security incidents, including investigations, reporting, event communication and remediation.
  • Conduct regular drills and training exercises to ensure preparedness.

Training And Awareness

  • Develop and deliver security awareness training programs for employees at all levels.
  • Promote a culture of security awareness and responsibility throughout the organization.

Collaboration And Communication

  • Collaborate with senior management, IT, HR, legal, and other departments to address security needs and concerns.
  • Communicate security updates, policies, and procedures to all employees.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for security-related matters.

Chief Security Officer Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in security management, including physical security, cybersecurity, and risk management.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful security programs.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., PCI, HIPAA, GDPR).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CPP, or similar are highly desirable.
