Business Development Manager - Agent Sales

HomeCloud is an innovative proptech startup based out of Raleigh-Durham, NC. It was founded in 2022 by seasoned entrepreneurs who built multiple businesses and raised over $30 million in venture capital. HomeCloud is rethinking the antiquated home inspection process to improve home onboarding and simplify home management. Our digital platform leverages proprietary home data to provide homeowners with valuable home insights, convenient repair/renovation services, and a truly personalized experience based on their home's unique features and characteristics. We recently completed a $3.5M capital raise in an oversubscribed seed round funded by a prominent group of investors. We’ve spent the past two years developing our technology platform and testing it in a private beta program with a select cohort of real estate agents. We’re now excited to launch our one-of-a-kind product publicly and offer it for the first time to all agents in the Raleigh/Durham market. 


The Role:


This role will be responsible for proactively engaging top-performing real estate agents and developing a network of partnerships with leading brokerages across the Raleigh-Durham market. You will be expected to drive HomeCloud brand awareness, generate referrals from real estate professionals, and grow our presence in your territory. In order to accomplish this, we expect this hire to conduct in-person visits with agents and brokerages at least two to three days per week. 


As the sales leader at HomeCloud, you will get to partner with the business team on the formulation of company marketing materials, digital advertising strategies, and other campaigns. You will partake in the entire sales process, from lead generation to partner acquisition to account growth. The compensation for this role will include a competitive base salary and an uncapped commission structure.


Job Responsibilities:


  • Build a strong sales pipeline and generate new agent partner leads through networking and prospecting efforts
  • Conduct sales face-to-face presentations, sales meetings, and conference calls to prospects at all levels of real estate brokerages, including top-performing team leads and brokerage owners
  • Monitor and nurture established agent partner relationships to maintain and grow their volume of activity with HomeCloud
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of HomeCloud’s technology product, our value proposition to agents and their homeowners, and any tangential industry information
  • Coordinate internally with the rest of the team where necessary to ensure a smooth onboarding and enjoyable partner experience
  • Track, monitor, and report relevant sales metrics and results
  • Identify and attend local networking and industry events, and always represent HomeCloud in a professional way


Ideal Candidate Qualifications:


  • 3+ years as an individual contributor within a business development, sales, or account management role AND 2+ years of real estate experience (as an agent, within a brokerage, or at another proptech startup)
  • Prior experience convincing real estate agents or brokerages to switch to a new innovative technology and/or rival offering is a strong plus
  • Challenger-type sales professional with experience managing a dense coverage area encompassing a large number of accounts (1,000+ names)
  • Skilled with using CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce)
  • Demonstrated track record of consistently achieving and exceeding sales targets
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to work effectively in a fast-growing, highly collaborative environment
  • Strong critical thinker, problem solver, and autonomous worker with exceptional communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, marketing, real estate, or a related field is preferred
