Summary
BHS Therapists Interns provide clinical services to patients in an inpatient or outpatient setting. A Therapist Intern is defined as an individual trained in psychotherapy who helps individuals deal with a variety of mental health and daily living problems to improve overall functioning. A therapist Intern has a master's degree and has studied sociology, growth and development, mental health theory and practice, human behavior/social environment, psychology, and research methods. The Therapist Intern is fully licensed/certified to perform these duties while working toward their 2,000 - 3,000 hours of supervised clinical experience.

The Therapist Intern is fully licensed/certified to perform these duties while working toward their 2,000 - 3,000 hours of supervised clinical experience.
Responsibilities
- Performs patient evaluations and assessments through interviews with the patient, family members, friends, and a review of the medical records including social, developmental, and medical history
- Identifies presenting problem and determines strengths, resources, and eligibility for applicable programs
- Participates in treatment planning, attends treatment team meetings and reports on patients progress and makes recommendations for changes in the treatment plan
- Performs crisis interventions for patients who lack the ability to cope with their current stressors
- Conduct individual, family, and group therapy with patients, applying a variety of therapeutic techniques
- Evaluate necessary daily living skills, education and vocational needs, and plan interventions to achieve treatment goals
- Develop and implement discharge and after care plans suitable to the patient’s condition and available resources
- Performs psychosocial evaluations, consults with physicians and staff regarding the patient's plan of care
- Documents findings, patient progress, and changes in the plan of care in the electronic medical record
- Review and evaluate program services to include evidence based practices and conform to agency policies
- Provides clinical supervision over lower level professional staff and interns as assigned
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Required o Master’s degree in Behavioral Health related field o Current unrestricted driver’s license o Nevada State Licensed/certified as a Clinical Social Worker Intern, Marriage and Family Therapist Intern, or Clinical Professional Counselor Intern or eligible to obtain licensure within sixty (60) days of hire o NVCI/CPI Training (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) initial certification within six (6) months of hire
- Preferred o 3 years of clinical experience working with psychiatric or chemical dependency patients o Inpatient or outpatient experience
