Job Description:
Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is a two -year community/technical college that offers more than 75 associate degree, diploma, and certificate programs for students who are either seeking quick entry into the workforce or desiring to transfer to a senior institution to pursue a bachelor’s degree. HGTC offers three convenient campus locations in South Carolina, including Myrtle Beach, Conway and Georgetown.
Horry-Georgetown Technical College seeks a full-time Accounting instructor. The successful candidate will be required to teach a combination of online, hybrid, and face-to-face classes at any Horry-Georgetown Technical College campus location. The individual will report to the Business Administration Academic Chair in the School of Business Administration, Computer Technology and Personal Services. The candidate will be responsible for the following duties (this list is not intended to be exhaustive):
Preparing lesson plans for classroom instruction
Developing program syllabi, goals and objectives
Evaluating students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives
Assessing Business students’ learning objectives
Preparing and maintaining all required documentation and administrative reports
Maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences
Meeting with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of students
Providing academic advisement to students
Participating in academic term registrations
Assisting with departmental marketing efforts to increase recruitment and retention of students
Duties include a flexible schedule of lecture, student advisement and registration. Must be willing to work split teaching shifts that might require split teaching days between multiple campus locations. Must fully embrace the responsibility for maintaining an acceptable number of students within related programs.
Advertised Salary: Salary is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave.
Minimum Requirements: Masters degree in accounting or masters degree with 18 graduate hours in accounting.
Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree in accounting or masters degree with 18 graduate hours in accounting and CPA or CMA. Previous teaching and/or work-related experience.
